I had a tattoo done here, artists are really good. The floor staff is unfriendly though and not up to help. I emailed them for a second tattoo and their response was 'thanks but you can walk-in'. Absolutely horrible!! so for context I have many tattoos, I went in to the Spadina location as I wanted pricing on a hand tattoo that I've been thinking about for a long time and have planned out pretty well. I walked in and was met by someone I explained what I wanted in detail with reference photos and he started to do the finger portion telling me that the person who would do the top does not do fingers but I'd speak with the person for the top after I got the fingers done, so I went ahead and let him tattoo my fingers, after I spoke with no one at all but assumed as it was end of the day maybe they had gone home. I went back because now my hand is unfinished and feels off when I look at it , I walked in and spoke to who I assume was the manager to find out there was no way I was getting the top of my hand tattooed in that shop but they could recommend someone from somewhere else but to top it off he tried to sell me on a completely different tattoo in a completely different location leaving me with half a tattoo and not even an apology. I will never go back there and now I will be paying another shop to finish what they started and refused to finish. Read Less

While the shop is clean, I got work done by Ceysen a few months ago and have been trying to get touch ups since. No one is responding to emails and the staff don't know his schedule. I have stopped in at both locations to ask. North York had no clue and Spadina wasn't open during operating hours listed on door. Had my first tattoo done by Alex today as my 25 birthday gift. My design is pretty simple which is just my zodiac sign. Alex was still willing to take this case and did it perfectly. I DID NOT feel any pain but felt like someone was scratching behind your ear. It only took like 2 minutes and I totally enjoyed and was not scared at all once he started. Golden Iron has such a professional atmosphere as soon as you walk in with very friendly staff. Special thank you to ALEX for perfectly executing my tattoo, he was very patient and kind when I was explaining what I wanted. He made sure we were both on the same page when he was piecing together/creating my stencil. He had great insight and visionary ideas to fill in/add to my piece where thought was needed and had no problem placing the finished stencil on different areas before I made up my mind for placement. This was my first time visiting this shop and I was super impressed !! The interior is modern and clean, very approachable and made me feel comfortable. Jaz tatted my friends and I since we were all getting matching tattoos. He was so kind and easy to talk to. The tattoos came out AMAZING !! I will definitely come back for more tats in the future. I got a tattoo from Helen Wu, after flipping through her art book. I was informed she had not tattooed the image before and agreed to pay to have it tattooed on me. She even suggested the area where it would be tattooed. It was only after I was tattooed that I searched her Instagram and found that it was a design that she had made and tattooed on someone in honor of their dead mother, in the same location. So I now have someone's Dead Mother tattoo on me forever, something I'm sure should have been unique and special to them. Shortly after, she removed the tattoo picture from online, probably so she could continue tattooing it on other people workout informing them of its significance. Helen Wu, you should be ashamed. You're clearly an artist that cares more about making money than the integrity of the art you provide your clients. She may be a good artist, but don't trust her ethics. Read Less

Very talented and friendly artists but difficult to book an appointment in my opinion. If you are looking for modern, fine-line, and detailed tattoos this is the place for you. The only downfall I had with my experience with Golden Iron was that they were extremely slow with their response, due to a high volume of customers. So if you want to book an appointment or consultation, it is best to do so by walk-in as it may take a while to book by phone or e-mail, which I did. But all in all, I am very happy with my tattoo by Stella :) Read Less

I got my first (official) tattoo here and the wait time was a little bit annoying but I was tattooed by Helen and she did an amazing job. I drew out my own design of a flower and she gave my constructive criticism on what I should do for size and location and just design overall. The tattooing itself was pretty painless (I have it on my upper arm/shoulder area) and it was done pretty quick. The only thing I'll say is that I know you're paying a pretty penny for the quality and everyone who has tattoos will tell you to be ready to shell out but after talking to tattoo artists, they quoted me even more elaborate pieces that I wanted to get for a cheaper price? So it's definitely a little more pricey I'd say. Overall the quality is pretty amazing it's healed perfectly fine. Great artists! Amazing customer service! It was my first tattoo experience and I couldn't ask for anything better. Andrew was my tattoo artist, he was very clear and concise about the design I wanted. He helped figure out what would look best and was able to accommodate my limited budget without risking the quality of the final product. He made sure my friends and I were as comfortable as possible, and confident with our designs as well as the placement. Even looking around w...hile getting my tattoo done, the other artists were creating astonishing works of art, with so many different styles and techniques. If you email them your design, they will pair you up with the appropriate artist. With the multitude of style and talent at the shop, they are sure to be able to accomodate any design your mind can conjure up. I would highly recommend this shop if you are in the Toronto area. Being that this was my first tattoo experience, the bar has been set pretty high! If I didn't live in Vancouver I would definitely be booking my next tattoo done here. I made a consultation with Helen back in the beginning of December. For starters she was late for that, then during the consultation it was clear someone else was also waiting for Helen to tattoo them so she pretty much rushed through my consultation. She asked for the names of the flowers I wanted and wrote them down as well as sizing. She didn't bother to look up the flowers or design with me or anything. Then asked for a $200 deposit which was supposed to include her drawi...ng it, she then said if it was less I would be given back the money. My appointment was then made for January 28th. Around a week and a half before my appointment I emailed Helen to ask for a picture of my design. No response for at least 5 days and then she re asked for what flowers I wanted and sizing. Essentially redid my consultation via email. When I responded i asked again if I could have a picture of my design before my appointment and she said for sure. 3 days later the shop emailed to confirm my appointment and say they had mixed up which location she would be at. The location she was going to be at was out of my way but whatever at that point I just wanted the tattoo. I responded to confirm and asked yet again for a picture of the design. No response. At 11pm the day before my tattoo Helen emailed me to say she had left the design in the studio and to come in the next day and she would make changes if needed and whatever. Next day I go in at 2pm and she is tattooing someone, I wait 45 minutes and she comes over and brings me a printed off design of some flowers. No drawing; and on my receipt it was made clear I was paying for a drawing as well. Me being confused and anxious and overwhelmed I just went with it. Before she tattooed me she asked if she had told me how much it was going to be and I said no and she told me it would be $550. The price surprised me as she had said she would give me money back if it was less so I assumed it wouldn't be anywhere near $550. I didn't have that much on me but had enough in my bank account and there was a bank near by. After my tattoo was done she told me it was $550 plus tax. Which worked out to around $620. I did not have that much money and was in a panic and someone had drive an hour to me to bring me the rest of the money. All in all a very stressful and unpleasant experience. She is extremely professional, kind, gentle, and she makes it very easy to trust her vision and opinion when it came to placement and size. Pretty disappointed with the service.  My cousin gets her tattoos done here and it was a good experience for her when I went with her. But when I tried to get a tattoo I went to the Spadina location with print outs of my tattoo only to be sent away since the booking manager was not in and was told to email them instead. So I emailed them all the information from the size to placement on the body. I waited and after 3 days of not hearing back I decided to call to confirm that they received my email. And the booking manager said she was replying to all the emails at the moment and I should hear back by that day or the next. Long story short over 1 week and 6 days I had to call them 4 times in total just to have someone respond to my email.  I began looking into other tattoo shops but I eventually received a text saying to email all my information to another email which was an artist. I respond to the text right away and told them I sent all the information and I was told I would receive a response shortly. 3 more days go by and I decide to text back the number asking when the artist will respond to me. And they said the artist will respond now. So he did and the prices were pretty expensive 600-700 and definitely not in my price range as my cousin got her tattoo which was half the size of mine for 90 bucks so I wasn't expecting to pay more than 350. Immediately after receiving the price quotes I stopped by another tattoo store closer to home and asked for a quote and was told 280. Unfortunately I was really looking forward to getting a tattoo done at Golden Iron but the service was terrible. I would understand high prices for good service but it wasn't a customer shouldn't have to chase to get an appointment or just a price quote. Read Less

I am unbelievably disappointed in this shop.I have been trying since October SECOND to get a hold of SOMEONE to give me one price quote on a tattoo piece that was to be done by Helen for my mother. (Helen is visiting Calgary on the 10th of October and I was told appointments were going fast, so I tried to book early). I even sent a picture of the tattoo and size, as Helen charges by piece and my mom wanted to know an idea as to how much it would cost, as a deposit is also required so she needed to know how much that was as well. I have called numerous times (4+) and have contacted this studio through Facebook messages and email since October third, was even was told Helen would be given my information to call me back that day and that was the middle of last week. I have STILL heard nothing from anyone and it's October 11th!! How inconsiderate. I am no longer interested, and big into tattoo's here in Calgary. I will let my friends and review readers here in Calgary get a heads up that this shop must be too busy to entertain any aspect of new clientele whatsoever. Thumbs down. Read Less

I can't speak highly enough of Lindsay. She took my idea and made my tattoo better than I ever could have imagined. She made me feel so comfortable from the moment I met her until I walked out of the shop - she was honest about potential complications with a foot tattoo, patient when I had her reposition it several times, very chill and friendly during the process, and her attention to detail went above and beyond. She made sure that she didn't quit until it was as perfect as... she could get it, which I really appreciate in an artist. If you're looking for single needle work, I highly highly recommend her. The shop itself was chill, clean, and (most) of the other artists were friendly - but Lindsay was what made the experience so great for me. I got 3 little simple tattoos in one go by Yi, who is the cutest, most accommodating and understanding artist I have ever had. I kept changing the sizes of what I want, the the placement of the stencils and she was laughing with me and making jokes and totally was on the same space with what I want. She did the tattoos fast and made sure the price made sense for what I was getting, and the time it took her to do it. The shop was clean, I wasn't waiting long at all and she was very easy to get in contact and stay connected with throughout the process of booking the "appointment" about 5 hours prior to coming in. I was running late and she totally understood and told me not to rush. Everything was great and the tattoos ended up looking clean, and beautiful with amazing little details even though they were so small. I am so happy with them. Everyone in the shop was friendly including all of the people getting tattooed. It was clean, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The place looks very clean. The shop has so many awards on the walls, it might as well use their awards to replace the walls itself. I got a gentleman named Kristian. He was very professional, let me know everything step by step, and kept me in the loop the entire process. He never sounded like a know it all and offered suggestions throughout. I also felt comfortable with him getting 2nd and 3rd opinions from his coworkers and although they are the professionals, I felt my opinion mattered just as much. Great conversation, great atmosphere, and I was just so comfortable.  I have just over 15 tattoos and this experience was one of the best. Highly recommend this shop as well as this artist. So Disappointed.Got a Tattoo 2 years ago by a female artist (yui..yue... I forgot her name)spent $450I asked for a realistic bird eating its wing instead i got a bird that looked liked it was drawn by a 13 year old. she did the outline in one session then told me she will make it realistic with the shading and details later on. but it ended up pretty much being coloured in completely black with next to no detail. you can't even see the birds beak because its so merged with the wing. honestly I'm very disappointed with the shop. 6/5, that should be an available rating that they let you use once in a lifetime, and i'd spend it on this place.  Gregory Serpanchy is not only an incredible artist but just an over the top awesome guy.  Just an awesome first time experience.  The shop is clean and newly remodeled so it looks brand new and welcoming.  Their walls are lined with more awards than you could count and their work definitely backs it up.  If youre thinking about it, stop thinking about it and pull the damn trigger, do it here. This is the only place that I visited that said that they could do my cover up tattoo.  All the places I went to said that I would either have to get my previous bad tattoo laser removed or that they could not ink over what was there.Let's start off with the atmosphere, it's a very chill shop with just the right decor on the walls.  The artists are extremely friendly and make you feel at ease.  Location is great just across from Kensington Market.  Ample parking at the Green P at KM if you decide to drive down.  Other than that I'd suggest TTC.Cysen the head artist helped me decide on the appropriate theme and even offered several choices prior to me deciding.  Took a few attempts but finally we decided on a design.  The end result was amazing!  Can't even tell where my previous tattoo was on my arm.  Ended up going with a full sleeve instead of half.  Go big or go home!  Price was more than fair.I plan to do my other arm soon, so I will definitely be back to this studio.Thanks guys!
