I visited Golden Horseshoe today to have one of my ear holes tapered open. I was immediately greeted at the door by Josh, to whom I explained that I have been unable to wear earrings for 5 years due to a new sensitivity but I really want to wear earrings to my upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, I was no longer able to get an earring into one of my ears. Josh helped me right away by explaining why I couldn't get the earring in and tapering the hole open for me. He talked me through the whole procedure and was entirely knowledgeable, kind, and patient as I asked all the questions I had. He even explained to me that my sensitivity was likely a nickel allergy and was able to sell me some beautiful earrings that will not aggravate my allergy. I was truly touched by the genuine kindness Josh showed me when he heard my story. Brought my older son in here to get his first tat. He gently reminded me I'd be a hypocrite if I objected (since I have one myself); little bugger. But he's legally an adult now so I figured I'd join him to see what he was going to get done. He decided on something simple : Two lines of Roman numerals. The first line is his mothers birthdate, and right below that is my birthdate. It turned out pretty good actually. I thought it was a pinch on the pricier side considering it was only text but my son was happy with it (you'll notice I didn't take off a star for the pricing), so as long as he's happy I'm golden. On the plus side (regarding pricing), they don't pressure you or use any pushy sales tactics. Everything was very relaxed & laid back. I called in ahead of time to get an idea of the pricing but was told it's something they cannot quote over the phone. They require you to come in and speak with a consultant since there are many factors (tat size, design, etc.). But they answered all of our questions, they were very friendly and their smiles left a positive impression on us both. I know a few people who are actually intimidated by going into places like a tattoo parlour, but they're a friendly bunch. When we left, my son said "Oh, we'll definitely be coming back here" to me. Who knows? I might even have my tat touched up (the colours have faded; after all it's been over 20 years since I had it done). That's something they offer there as well; tattoo touch up's. They also offer piercings and ear spacers. The latter is a bit too weird for my liking, but hey...to each his own. Be warned, they do not accept debit cards. They only accept CASH, but they do have an ATM in their establishment but it will charge you $1.50, so you might want to stop at your local bank to avoid that additional cost. My friend surprised me for Christmas by paying for my Forward Helix to be pierced! I previously had it pierced at a differently location but had to have it removed for personal purposes and had wanted it pierced for so long. last minute, i decided to get two piercing and Gord was 100% okay with the last minute choice! he was so incredibly professional and welcoming and was so informative (which is so helpful when you're nervous). i totally recommend this place to anyone in the area or anyone stopping by the area! what i love the most about this place is that, when you get your piercing, you get to choose from various kinds of cute jewelry and not get a plain stud or hoop. love this place, and can't wait to go back! Quick and simple, had the side of my foot done and didnt even feel a thing! 0 ink loss and artist was very clear with me and made sure everything i had done was 100% to my satisfaction. I have not got any work done at the shop, however I did go in to try and discuss a design I had in mind with Darryl and he was very rude. He told me that unless I have a design already drawn up, not to come into the shop looking for work. He appeared to not care that I was looking to get work done and he acted very stuck up. It's always a great experience coming in here. I've had tattoos done by Darryl and Elise and have many more to come. Great people, great atmosphere, clean and friendly environment. I would highly recommend them especially if you are getting your first tattoo. This place is a great introduction and sets the bar high in quality. I went to the shop on walk-in Wednesday, originally wanting new jewelry for my double helix. Gord took some time to show me some really creative ideas for a custom piece, and I ended up getting an impromptu daith piercing. Gord helped me pick out a great piece of jewelry for the piercing. Personal touches like that, along his friendly and easy-going demeanor and professional technique, made this my favourite piercing experience to date. Got my first tattoo done here about a year and a half ago. Excellent job and very friendly staff. Darryl is super friendly and does top notch work. Since then I have been back 4 more times just adding to the original design. Darryl does fantastic freehand and knows his stuff. Looking at going back to continue on down my arm.
