I am writing this review because I am very frustrated. I reached out to Wookjin for a consultation for a tattoo that I had designed but was hoping to have it fixed by an actual artist first. Wookjin let me know that his availability in July was limited and that I needed to send a deposit ASAP so he could secure my appointment. I did this and Wookjin sent me an email saying that my appointment was secured. I then reached out to see if I could come in for a consultation for the redesign and did not hear any response back. I called the shop and had to confirm with someone else that I could come see him. After the consultation (during which Wookjin basically said we should do the design as-is and not change anything, which is whatever), I emailed him asking if the price would change or if he could send me a redesigned piece with some changes I requested and waited 2 weeks for a reply. He finally replied 2 days ago and said the price would stay the same even though he did nothing with my design, and that he was looking forward to the appt. This morning he messaged me and told me that he accidentally double booked my appointment and that I would have to reschedule. I let him know that I booked the time off work when I sent him the deposit back in June and since he only works until 5pm every day I wouldn't be able to take any more time off with such short notice (I wish he would've let me know 2 weeks ago when I emailed him last). He dismissed the fact that I took time off work for this and let me know that he would be sending back my deposit. I was looking forward to this tattoo, have taken a day off work unnecessarily and now have to try to book my tattoo with another artist which means I will likely to have wait another month or more to get it done. I don't know if the other artists are like this, but I will never risk booking a tattoo at Playhouse again. Super unprofessional.

I can't say enough about how great my experience was at Playhouse. It's a beautiful new studio, with talented, knowledgeable, friendly staff, and state-of-the-art equipment. I went specifically for Ami through a friend's recommendation and she is simply a gem. I'm so happy with my tattoo and I'm even happier that I was able to sit down with her and be engaged in the process of creating exactly what I wanted for my first tattoo. I was a bit apprehensive (I waited longer than most for my first), but she put me completely at ease. I'm absolutely in love with my tattoo -- the first comment anybody makes is about the intricate detail. Ami is an artist at heart and a meticulous one at that -- I would recommend her without hesitation. Also, there's been zero issues with my healing process. It's been a week and a half and I've already finished peeling (which was fairly minimal). I'll definitely be back!

I decided to get my first tattoo here and I'm so thankful this is the place I chose! My tattoo artist Francis was super patient and collaborative while I was choosing exactly what to get and where to get it which made the whole process so comfortable. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the space also made that experience so much better for me as well seeing as it was my first ever tattoo and I was a little bit nervous. Overall it was a great experience and I'd recommend Playhouse and Francis to anyone who's looking for a comfortable space and a meticulous and thoughtful artist!

Amazing place. The atmosphere was nice and chill. Staff working were all cool good vibes. It was my first tattoo and the whole experience was amazing. Francis was the tattoo artist that took care of me he was extreamly gentle since he knew it was my first tattoo. Amazing artist and wonderful place. No complaints. Will def recommend this place and I for sure will be going back for more tattoos.

After months of hesitation I finally decided to get my first tattoo. I was referred to Francis at Playhouse by a close friend of mine and I have to say the experience from beginning to end was fantastic. To begin we chatted online as I bounced ideas back and forth with him before actually coming In person. He was very quick and helpful with all his responses. Once I was set on a design Francis invited me in to the shop to get it done. The studio itself was trendy, pumping good music with lots of artwork on the walls to admire. Francis worked with me on setting the location of the tattoo and settling on a good size. I asked a lot of questions because the experience was new to me and he was extremely patient and helpful walking me through it all step by step. We got to work and I have to say I was really happy with the end result. I will definitely be back for future work and I would highly recommend Francis to anyone and everyone due to his overall professionalism and talent. Thank you Francis and Playhouse for making my first tat experience a great one.

I got my first tattoos done by Matthew after they took me as a walk-in over the weekend. I had done a lot of research prior to committing (three years worth of research haha) and I am so glad I found the people at Playhouse. The environment is so welcoming and all the staff are super friendly. Matthew made my experience very comfortable despite how nervous I was at the beginning. He talked me through the whole process and I was more than pleased with the outcome. He took my own sketches of the designs and did a perfect job with placement and details, even though they were very small tattoos. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend to all! Looking forward to coming by for new tattoos soon :)

Had my first appointment here a few days and it was excellent. The shop has a great feeling and atmosphere ;from the open concept to the style of art on the walls and area to bring a friend or a few with you. My appointment was with Matthew and I am not disappointed in the slightest by any part of the experience or art. His line work was spot on and was very professional during the entire time. Goegeous work, amazing people & a great studio 10/10 you will see me again soon guys!

I've had two tattoos done here and every single time I walk into this place they make me feel comfortable in every way they possibly can. The atmosphere is incredible, the work is beautiful and everyone here is so friendly. I don't think I'll ever want to go to another place in my entire life.
I got my tattoo done by Matthew and he really does know what he's doling. I highly recommend that you check out his Instagram (@matthew.playhouse) if you're thinking of getting a tattoo from here. He is incredible and it's definitely worth the price.

Hands down my favorite tattoo studio in the city. Everyone there is really friendly and welcoming. I had the super talented Ami Dave do cute small tattoos on my fingers and wrist, which came out so pretty. She made me feel super comfortable the entire time, as did the entire staff. I highly recommend you see Ami Dave, she is honestly one of the best artists I have seen so far.

Matthew is a great artist and took the time to make sure my tattoo was done perfectly. I have never used the Saniderm bandage before, but the tattoo healed up nicely. Surprised this is the first yelp review for Playhouse because it is popular! Ventured out into the suburbs and it was worth it. Had a tattoo done this past weekend and the experience was great. The owner Alula is super friendly, very chill vibe and the shop is CLEAN. I work in health care so I'm beyond picky and Yi took the time to show me everything they use (A+). Not my first tattoo but Yi is by FAR the best artist I've worked with. I walked in with a design and he redid the entire thing (thank GOODNESS he did after pointing out issues with the original pic).. ended up with the most beautiful piece that I can't stop staring at! Thanks Yi!!!

I am a graphic designer myself and I'm 45. I mention that because when I was called to get a tattoo trust and faith were two of the ESSENTIAL characteristics I was looking for while searching for my tattoo artist. I chose this studio and Yi specifically for his collaboration skills and his impeccable MAD technical chops. We just finished a months collaboration and completed the first session of a full sleeve last night and every expectation I had was either satisfied or exceeded. Trust the process. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking here you have found a top shelf artist. I highly recommend him and this studio.

Yi was great with helping me deal with my nerves, as it was my first tattoo. He was so professional and really took the time to understand what I wanted and patiently answered all of my questions. I got my first tattoos done by Matthew after they took me as a walk-in over the weekend. I had done a lot of research prior to committing (three years worth of research haha) and I am so glad I found the people at Playhouse. The environment is so welcoming and all the staff are super friendly. Matthew made my experience very comfortable despite how nervous I was at the beginning. He talked me through the whole process and I was more than pleased with the outcome. He took my own sketches of the designs and did a perfect job with placement and details, even though they were very small tattoos. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend to all! Looking forward to coming by for new tattoos soon :)

This week I brought my mom in for a tattoo as well by Matthew and once again, absolutely no complaints! great people, great shop, not to mention the tattoos turned out amazing! Would definitely recommend!

Had my first appointment here a few days and it was excellent. The shop has a great feeling and atmosphere ;from the open concept to the style of art on the walls and area to bring a friend or a few with you. My appointment was with Matthew and I am not disappointed in the slightest by any part of the experience or art. His line work was spot on and was very professional during the entire time. Goegeous work, amazing people & a great studio 10/10 you will see me again soon guys!

I've had two tattoos done here and every single time I walk into this place they make me feel comfortable in every way they possibly can. The atmosphere is incredible, the work is beautiful and everyone here is so friendly. I don't think I'll ever want to go to another place in my entire life.
I got my tattoo done by Matthew and he really does know what he's doling. I highly recommend that you check out his Instagram (@matthew.playhouse) if you're thinking of getting a tattoo from here. He is incredible and it's definitely worth the price.

Hands down my favorite tattoo studio in the city. Everyone there is really friendly and welcoming. I had the super talented Ami Dave do cute small tattoos on my fingers and wrist, which came out so pretty. She made me feel super comfortable the entire time, as did the entire staff. I highly recommend you see Ami Dave, she is honestly one of the best artists I have seen so far.

First time visiting this place, got a tattoo done by Matthew that turned out perfectly! Studio is clean with a friendly and professional atmosphere. Matthew is a great artist and took the time to make sure my tattoo was done perfectly. I have never used the Saniderm bandage before, but the tattoo healed up nicely. I couldn’t be happier with it and I will definitely be back!

Arty was our tattoo artist, he was very patient and ensured we were completely satisfied with our pieces. The vibes of this place are unreal - as soon as you walk in you feel like family. Surprised this is the first yelp review for Playhouse because it is popular! Ventured out into the suburbs and it was worth it. Had a tattoo done this past weekend and the experience was great. The owner Alula is super friendly, very chill vibe and the shop is CLEAN. I work in health care so I'm beyond picky and Yi took the time to show me everything they use (A+). Not my first tattoo but Yi is by FAR the best artist I've worked with. I walked in with a design and he redid the entire thing (thank GOODNESS he did after pointing out issues with the original pic).. ended up with the most beautiful piece that I can't stop staring at! Thanks Yi!!!

I am a graphic designer myself and I'm 45. I mention that because when I was called to get a tattoo trust and faith were two of the ESSENTIAL characteristics I was looking for while searching for my tattoo artist. I chose this studio and Yi specifically for his collaboration skills and his impeccable MAD technical chops. We just finished a months collaboration and completed the first session of a full sleeve last night and every expectation I had was either satisfied or exceeded. Trust the process. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking here you have found a top shelf artist. I highly recommend him and this studio.

Yi was great with helping me deal with my nerves, as it was my first tattoo. He was so professional and really took the time to understand what I wanted and patiently answered all of my questions. I was recommended to him by two friends and I've already recommended him to a few of my own friends! I cannot wait to get my next tattoo from Yi =)
