Made an appointment with Danny O to get my leg sleeve designed back in September 2018. Although his schedule was super tight, he was able to fit me in since I was flying out from California. He was really easy going and at times when I wasn't too sure about my design or certain things, he would give me his honest opinion and suggestions which I thought was pretty cool. When I first met him, he was a super chill guy to talk to during my sessions with him. One thing that stood out to me was how hard Danny O's willing to work because we were getting close to closing hours during my first session but Danny wanted to get as much detail done as he could since he knew that I'd only be able to fly out once or maybe even twice a year to get some work done. Too bad I didn't have time for to stay but I do appreciate him for offering to do that. Overall it took us about 2 consecutive days and around 14 hrs total. Got my first 2 tattoos here in 2018 (one small heart finger tattoo and one small piece on my forearm) they were both extremely overpriced and they refused to touch up the finger tattoo which literally faded within 5 days of having it. My best friend got the same finger tattoo at the same time as me and her tattoo also looks like shit. I know they make you sign a waiver saying no touch ups for anything on the hands but fading within 5 days is ridiculous. It should be a permanent tattoo it was 80$+ I also found the staff to be very stuck up, unfriendly and seemingly judgemental at both the gerrard and the Eglinton locations which only gave me anxiety during the process. Went here to upgrade my nostril jewelry and specially told the piercer that I can only heal full with gold. Somehow I let myself get convinced that Titanium would be better, in fact the piercer insisted that I should use Titanium. A few days after my nostril became swollen and warm to the touch and head also oozing pus. I take very good care of my skin and always follow the piercing guidelines as such I knew that I had gotten infected at that shop or was having a terrible reaction to the choice of jewelry. This infection led me to the doctor twice. I went back to the shop to explain what happened and of course no one took any responsibility or showed any concern. I ended up having to purchase another pair of gold studs as I had a double nostril. I did not even a discount given what they put me through and to make matters worse, the front staff was quite rude. I've had an 80$ deposit put down from a few years back so I decided to walk-in on a whim.Got everything settled and got a quote of 100$-200$ which I thought was reasonable.Then one girl who was at the front desk out of know where says "oh, I would say 200$-300$.." (where the hell did she come from?!)ok, so it changed and that was fine with me since  I well know it will depend on the size. My artist was very welcoming and had so much patience with me. (I believe Mack was her name)She brought me about 6 sizes to choose from and I chose the smallest one for my inner forearm.Very simple design which took about 40 minutes. By far the best tattoo shop I have been too so far. The shop is very clean and the staff very friendly and informative. I got my fourth tattoo here and my first color tattoo, which I had been nervous about. Christine who was the artist, was wonderful in explaining how the color would appear on my body, and in the design of my tattoo. I went to the downtown location for piercings (one conch and 2 upper lobes - 1 each ear), and things weren't too bad until they were.Last week, I went back there to have the rings "resized" and what was my surprise to learn I wasn't getting what I clearly expressed I wanted from the start.First of all, the upper lobes' rings are too big as they don't have the right size. Ok that I didn't have to pay for them. Until that point, fine. They were just being professional. But when we got to the conch ring things changed. When I had them done I was told - by both the receptionist that helped me to choose the jewelry and the artist Gina - that in 4-6 weeks I should return for "resizing". Gina dismissively said I would pay about $15 bucks for the job. What do you understand by the word "resize"? I understand that it is taking something and making it smaller or bigger or larger or whatever. But to them is changing the rings and charging you extra. Worst of all, according to the other artist who saw me last week, the new conch ring will be dangling, and not tight as I told them I wanted. Why would I pay $160 for a jewelry to have it dangling? Nonsense.Summary: they want me to pay extra $30 for the new conch ring in the wrong size. I contacted them through their website last Sunday and haven't received a call or email until now. No wonder! Why weren't they transparent and clear before I had the piercings done? Omission. That's why.Definitely, I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone who values transparent and satisfactory customer service. Read Less

Hands down one of he best tattoo shops in the city. The atmosphere is nice and friendly. My artist Amber is talented out of this world and the detail in my tat is remarkable every time i look at it I find new little details. I was half way threw and the pain not only on my arm started to kick in but so did my stomach with hunger pains. Just finished my second session with Jeff yesterday, and he's been nothing short of absolutely phenomenal. I've had the idea for this piece for years now, and Jeff has breathed life into it more completely than I could possibly have imagined. He's been incredibly perceptive in his suggestions for placement and colouring, and he has a very keen eye for detail. The rest of the staff are consistently amiable and courteous; the shop itself is clean, modern, and conveniently located. I don't think I'll ever go to another tattoo parlour. The most amazing tattoo parlour I've ever been in. The art work of the different tattoo artists lined the walls of their stations, with a comfortable waiting area for the customers. It was a very professional place with the most talented artists I've ever seen. Every artist has a specific style to give you the range of talent in the place. The artist I dealt with was awesome and fun to chat with. She also put on a "second skin" to help my tattoo heal, which was super cool and definitely worked to speed healing. Recently had an appointment with a guest artist, for whom I give 10 stars! However my dealings with the chronic ink studio were very stressful. The studio advised me to contact the artist directly for an appointment/quote, which I did - the artist said the sitting would be 4 to 5 hours and wouldn’t be higher than $1000. Once everything was arranged I went in to the studio to put down a deposit. They requested details about the design. It had already been drawn up, so I had the details/dimensions on hand. Got an email after placing the deposit to say it would actually take 8 hours and be up to $2000.. so the price and time magically doubled..?! I called to clarify and reception advised that this pricing was more appropriate than what I was quoted for a tattoo of this size and I could discuss further when I came in for the appointment. Sooo why get a quote? Why contact the artist if reception is going to pull fantastical figures out of thin air? It made the process stressful as I was not comfortable paying $2000 for a 6” tattoo, but had a $350 non-refundable deposit down so felt pressured to go ahead regardless. Absolute price gouging madness. I talked to the artist about this issue before starting the tattoo and she was happy to maintain the original quote. FYI the tat took 4 hours. Got my nose pierced yesterday at the downtown location by Gina and it was an awesome experience. She was super friendly and I couldn't have been more pleased with how everything turned out. I think my nose was pierced and my jewellery was in within 30 seconds and it didn't hurt as much as I was expecting it to at all. She also gave me all her contact info in case I have any problems or questions so I can reach out to her at anytime. If I ever decide to get another piercing she will be my go to for sure! Read Less

Best piercing ever! The staff are friendly, they are extremely clean and the attention to detail is great. If you go for a piercing, ask for Becky or Ian. Becky is incredible and is extremely knowledgeable, and the environment is very clean. She is incredibly understanding and patient -- I had a bad reaction to one of my piercings, and she gave me all the time I needed to relax and recover.As far as tattoos go, I can only say from second-hand experience. They are unbelievably amazing artists and they are in high demand. They have a huge stack of awards across the walls and it's clearly for good reason. The artists all get along and know each other well, they take good care of their stations, and they make sure that everything is sterile and safe. They are, as far as I can tell, well above both the City and Provincial standards for health and safety. Went to Chronic Ink for my first tattoo. From my initial consultation to the final tattooing, the staff were amazing! Explained the costs involved, whom will be tattooing me, and the length it will take. The nice touch is the email and text reminders of your appointment and what is required to be done prior.  Even though people said it was a little pricey, I look at quality of work. You get what you pay for and art on your body is nothing to scimp on. Also, it was busy and many were having another tattoo done, so these customers must know a good thing when they see it. My artist was Rayna. Amazing, extremely calming, detailed oriented, and did the changes you want. You can go in with an idea, but come out with a masterpiece. Tattooing is a service and your reception is in the customer service industry. Should probably get some pointers on how to treat people if you want people to come back or get good reviews. You know there's something wrong with a place after they make you wait for an hour, and then when you say you're going to leave, they try to blame YOU for the artist being late. They told me he was going to show up any minute but by the time I left, I'm pretty sure he didn't even make it since he was no where in sight. Not one person, throughout my wait apologized or addressed me while I waited. The artist gets paid per hour and considering the amount they charge, you think they'd be a little more considerate of a paying customers time. This happened at the Eglinton location. Not sure how it works at the other ones but I'd say stay away. Read Less

Got a Tragus Piercing at the downtown location, by Ian.Short Review: Friendly Staff, Ian was great, clearly paid attention to details, put me at ease, hardly any pain at all. 10/10 would recommend. Long Review: I did my research, both on the piercing I wanted, and the reputation of several piercing places. I chose Chronic Ink for their reputation, pictures, and how attentive and knowledgeable their entire staff was (Quick shout out to everyone from the receptionist, to the faceless person answering my emails - everyone I interacted with was fantastic!) So I went in wanting a Front Helix, but my research had prepared me for the fact that this is just not anatomically possible with everyone. I went in, and was told right away that it simply wasn't feasible with my ear. They apologized for any time I felt was 'wasted' coming all the way there. They asked me if I was interested in any other piercings, or had any questions. I was so disappointed, I told them I didn't. They were so polite about this all. Never pushy, never 'lets just pierce her, and take her money." I was impressed that they told me no, because they knew it wouldn't look right, or just wouldn't work with my ear. I respected that. I left. I went downstairs and googled ear piercings again (my heart was set!). I decided I liked a Tragus enough, I didn't love it, but I liked it. I went back, I asked about prices, and pain, and feasibility, and they told me I could do it! I was very happy, and also nervous. Ian was assigned for my piercing, and he was great! He took the time to walk me through all the steps, outlined not only what it would feel like, but what it would SOUND like as well. He was obviously very attentive to all details, as well as my body language and put me completely at ease. The piercing itself took a moment and was over, with little to no pain. Afterwards, I asked tons of questions about care, and we must have spoke for like 20 minutes, but never once did Ian rush me, or make me feel like I was annoying. Turns out, I LOVE my tragus! I love it better than the front Helix, its not as hidden by my hair, and is visible all the time. I adore it! I am so thankful to the staff, and to Ian in specific. After multiple emails sent back and forth explaining concept and size, Mackenzie, the tattoo artist, still tried to make the tattoo larger than what he wanted (for $$?). During the session she had to ask for help from another artist bc she was so lost. My husband regretted coming to the shop in that moment. After she was done, she didn't even show my husband the tattoo and quickly covered it up. Not even two days after the session, his entire tattoo aggressively scabbed up almost as if it was infected. We are used to getting tattoos and knew that this wasn't normal. Now that the scabs are coming off, this is what he was left with (picture below). Inside the triangle was SUPPOSED to be a galaxy?!? Visited the downtown location (Gerrard and Yonge) while in town for the weekend.  Walked in to possibly get a small hand tatt with a buddy. After explaining I was in town for 2 more days was referred to another location because "none of the artists are comfortable with doing hand tattoos".  Fine ok.  The front desk gentleman then proceeds to explain to me how hand tattoos are hard because of the skin being thin and how the  one artist he's trying to refer me to doesnt like to do them unless you have an entire sleeve WTH??? I didn't know whether to be annoyed or amused at the fact that you're sending me to another location 45 mins away to what seems to be the ONLY tattoo artist they have that does hands (its like i'm looking for Yoda or something) and also that you're talking to me like I have no clue about tattoos (mind you I have a 3/4 sleeve dragon on my left arm; a bio-organic armored sock on my left leg and foot where the skin is OH so thin; a Cobra backpiece; and multiple tattoos on my chest and right arm).  To top that off he quotes me $150-$200 for a 1-1.5" Harley Quinn symbol on my left hand between the thumb and forefinger....really dude?? I get its Canada and you're downtown but COME ON!! I will say the facility was nice and the location is really convenient but I will just stick to my artist in the states or do a little more research for another shop in the Toronto area. Read Less

My tattoo artist was late, and the shop called me 1 hour before hand to tell me the news. The shop itself was incredibly busy (Kennedy road location) and there was one place to sit, a tiny bench. Therefore the remainder of the dozen people who were waiting clogged the front of the shop while standing. My consultation was incredibly brief, my artist didn't seem to care about my rather large cover up tattoo, and said it wasn't going to be preferable to me lightening the existing tattoo through laser... Which I agreed would do but who knows how long that was going to take... but insisted I still put a deposit down for the cover up he didn't seem to care about and wanted me to move on. This is not my first tattoo and although he is a very gifted artist, I won't be getting my tattoo done there. Read Less

Absolutely loved my experience at Chronic Ink!! First and foremost, their team of artists are outstanding - very professional yet fun to work with! To add to it, the dynamic within the studio is lively and everyone is upbeat! I had a black and grey realism piece (half sleeve) done by George in 4 hours and I absolutely love it!! He complimented my ideas by providing his artistic input to optimize the appearance of end product (for example, the incorporation of white ink to emphasize certain features on the tattoo). Just finished a back to back session at Chronic Ink for my first tattoo (Forearm half sleeve) and I couldn’t be more pleased. After spending a long time researching artists/shops, I am very glad I went with Chronic Ink. From the consultation to the end of my second session, these guys were super friendly and professional. I was set up to get work done by the talented Damon Han. Initially it was a 9 month wait to get my appointment but I got VERY lucky that a spot opened up for me within a month and a half. The 9 month wait for Damon is very understandable as he is in high demand as well as their roster of artists. These are award winning artists who I would consider some of the best in the country. My experience with Damon was excellent. From discussing my idea to the actual process of getting the work done. He nailed my concept and the outcome was better than expected. Chronic ink practices the best health and safety procedures. Their shop was really bright, clean and the tools they use are state of the art. For each session they open a brand new sterilized kit. One of the coolest things I experienced was seeing senior artists like Damon take time and mentor apprentices to become better at their craft. You can tell these guys are very “team” oriented and look after their own. Shout out to the front desk staff Ron, Raymond and Chen for being accommodating to the clients. After doing a ton of research, I am so HAPPY I chose Chronic Ink to get my first tattoo done!I was super nervous because A) it was my first tattoo and B) I chose to do it on my rib. I've heard a ton of people saying the rib was the worst spot to get tatted because of the "excruciating" pain and that I must be crazy to get my first tattoo done in that spot.Well, it's a good thing I am stubborn and a horrible listener because in all honesty, it wasn't all that bad! And if anyone knows me, knows I am the BIGGEST baby when it comes to pain. I will literally cry from a paper cut.My tattoo artist was Joanna and I commend her for doing such an amazing job. She re-sized and re-aligned the stencil a few times on me (I have a slight OCD). Thank you for being super patient with me! She honestly did such a perfect job. Her lines are so clean like OMG.Throughout the entire thing, she was super gentle and constantly asked me if I was okay. And just like that my tattoo was done in under 30 minutes.  The staff was extremely helpful and professional. The email and text reminders/confirmations were great! The overall atmosphere of the place was amazing. Everyone seemed like a big creative, artistic, tatted family. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of getting ink done. Every single artist in the shop are remarkably talented. If you have OCD like me and like your script lines to be clean and dainty then go to Joanna. She is amazing at what she does. The shop is very clean and while I was intimidated going in there at first, everyone was very friendly. I got a black and grey tattoo done by Karen and I absolutely love it. There was some confusion about tattoo design and after some email tag it was sorted. I didn't get to see the sketch until I arrived at the shop, but it was everything I hoped it would be. Karen was professional and soft spoken. She repositioned things so they were just right. Afterwards I did notice there was one spot where the shading was outside the lines but it's so minor that it doesn't take away from the tattoo as a whole. Absolutely would recommend this location to a friend. Helen was my artist and she was very patient with helping me make sure my design was perfect! She was so nice and the staff at the front desk were friendly as well. Also to mine and my friends surprise, their needles are unbelievably quiet which, for me getting my first tattoo, made me a lot less nervous than hearing intense needle sounds when you walk in. The location is a very well kept, nice facility. Helen took the time to make sure my stencil was exactly where I wanted it and gave her honest, professional opinion when I asked her what she thought was best and what was easiest for her to keep the tattoo intact (avoid ink bleeding etc.) She made sure I was okay and ready when she started tattooing. So I've never gotten a tattoo before but I'm so glad that my friends introduced me to Chronic Ink. Having been here a few times to watch my friends get their tattoos and now finally getting one of my own, I can say that this place is AMAZING. The staff are super chill and friendly you could pretty much talk to them about anything (shout-outs to you Danny and Patrick!). All the artists working there are always supporting each other and showing off their works whilst asking for personal feedback and how they can further improve their work. You can definitely tell that they genuinely care about their craft and love what they do. I was also low-key nervous about getting my first tattoo so I may have been a little rowdy but they were really patient with me despite my few outbursts. I've had two piercings done by Becky and have come in another time to replace a piece of jewelry. Becky is absolutely amazing! I've never felt so comfortable with a piercer before. While Becky is fantastic, the rest of the experience at Chronic Ink is not. It's a very high traffic shop. I've had to wait over an hour and a half just to find out if she was even able to do the piercing I wanted. I purchased a plain curved barbell from them when mine fell out. They charge $20 to install their own jewelry, which I've never heard of before. For changing jewelry purchased elsewhere, sure. But any other studio I've been to/know about, free or $5 is the norm for their own jewelry. It was supposed to be internally threaded. When I got home, I went to put it in and found out it was external (I was surprised they would even carry externally threaded jewelry). I mentioned it the next time it was in and it was shrugged off. I personally prefer a bit more of a private experience when I can have a chance to talk to the piercer and am not made to feel like an inconvenience.So though Becky is absolutely amazing, I'd never go back to Chronic Ink. How chronic ink manages to find every artistically advanced torontonian and make them an apprentice that turns into a top award-winning artist blows my mind. This is my first time at the toronto location of Chronic Ink and I absolutely love it. Super easy to find, super easy to sign in (front desk staff are really nice) and the place is well organized. Each artist has a station and there are curtain things that can be used to create a private space. One thing I notice about chronic is that each artist/apprentice helps each other - during their breaks, they will wander to each other's stations and give them advice or encouragement. They're like a huge fam, and that's a great environment to have at work. I follow a lot of the artists and apprentices on instagram and definitely see how great they grow - each artist has a different style and definitely spend a lot of their time working on their art career. I was tattooed by Danny (@dannyo_tattoo on instagram) and his attention to detail is absolutely insane; he doesn't try to rush anything, which I've had to deal with before at different places. Patrick, another artist also came over and helped give pointers on the tattoo shading & even stepped in a few times to tattoo on me, which was cool (I only ever see that tag team shit on ink master lmao). I really enjoyed being tattooed by Danny because he had a super light hand and he excels in so many different styles; he's definitely going to be someone's tattoo sensei one day. (plus he's super cute too)All the other artists have their art up on their boards and it's definitely cool to see because you can walk around and get inspired for your next tattoo. Extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I went in yesterday to get my lobes pierced. The staff made faces at me and we're extremely judgemental, I assume because it was going to be my first piercing. I did not feel comfortable letting them pierce me or giving them my money. Their condescending attitude did not inspire confidence. I left and found a better place where I was treated with respect.The layout of their new location also was a little too open for my liking, everything was happening in the same room. Not sure if they offer private rooms, but it seemed like the staff want you to share their mentality or leave, so I doubt it.Overall, I would NEVER recommend this place. They don't seem to put the customer's needs first, and they certainly don't care about professionalism.Also, not that you should cheap out with these things, but their rates are higher than most. Following them from their old Yonge location, this new location is a nice upgrade. It's a bit harder to spot with the smaller logo from the outside, but when you see the "we welcome walk-ins" sign next to subway, you know you're there. Upon entering, I was greeted by the receptionist who still remembers me from last summer (nice). I then waited for my artist (guest Robert Zyla) to show me his photoshop edits and he continued reworking them until I was satisfied. It was a bit longer than I would have liked (appointment at 1pm and the needle broke my skin at 3:20pm), but I am thoroughly satisfied with the end result. We had one 10 minute break and a shorter one a bit under 5 minutes. The resident artists were pretty cool; some came to check on Robert's progress, and the booth next to me was doing smaller tattoos and gave thorough aftercare instructions to their clients. This location, like the Markham one, is open concept, but there are curtains for privacy. Relative to the Markham location, Markham seems to have more room to move around. But this location had books! I didn't pick any of them up to read, but I liked the selection. There are two sofas where potential clients do consults with the receptionists. While I was waiting, I watched/heard two of them go down. The receptionists here are great. The studio was packed around 12:40pm when I arrived, and finally died down around 1:30pm. I am now waiting for my tattoo to heal. This was one of the better tattoo shop experiences I've had. Everyone was on task and friendly. I am definitely coming back. Thanks CIT Toronto! Read Less
