The festival was fantastic! A strong venue to host a mixture of strong heritage and traditional scottish past times and activities! This is an experience to recommend to everyone, regardless of your heritage! Great Festival but please � whoever told us the opening ceremony would be brief because of the impending severe rain: it wasn't. If it ever happens again, quickly declare the games open, clear the field, THEN let the small horde of on-stage guests each speak for their five minutes of fame. Hypothermia is NOT fun! Read Less

It was a great festival, well organized and put together. The weather ended up being terrible but that's uncontrollable. My only complaint was the over flow parking being in a field. While I understand the necessity of it, with the weather forecast calling for severe rain there should have been sufficient wood boards to help the cars get out of the field without becoming mired in mud. It was a close thing with my wee little car. Mind you, it was an adventure and we all laughed afterwards when my car was covered in mud. All's well that ends well, after all! Read Less

Despite the rain this year, the festival was wonderful. I'd give it 5 stars, but for the sound system that simply wasn't up to the task for the poor presenters in the arena. The echo was so bad it was impossible to hear anything. Otherwise, the festival was a blast. My favourite part was the heavies competitions, but my kids loved all the fun things just for them - we even all had quick lessons on the mandolin! Read Less

Fergus was Awesome!!!! Many Clans were represented with displays of their history. The Highland games were spectacular!!! A huge variety of vendors. Love the small tents with story telling or music. The whole atmosphere was exillerating and truly Scottish. A large variety of food choices. My ultimate favorite has to be the Pipers!!!!and meeting Diana Gabaldon. I can't wait for next year!!! This is such a great festival to help keep my Scottish roots alive. My husband and I have been coming for 9 years and our children love it and look forward to it each year. This was our first year and despite the rain it was a wonderful experience. We got a weekend pass so we could experience as much as possible, even the rain - what would a Scottish event be if it weren't for a little rain. We got to see the Tattoo, we were a few among many who braved what turned into pretty torrential rain to welcome the pipers and the clans onto the field and we came back that night to enjoy bands in the Highland Pub, then Sunday to explore more of what was offered in the Heritage area and the Clan area...little did I know I have a possible distant relative in common with one of the clans... Thank you to all the volunteers, organizers, vendors and others who helped make this a wonderful experience. Read Less

This was a great experience! People who were working, volunteering and/or attending were sooo friendly. Even with the rain, I enjoyed my time there. Only reason why I couldn't give the event a full 5 stars was the line up for Diana Gabaldon was so long. Some people had bag full of books for signing. I arrived at 9am and didn't get my book signed until 4pm BUT honestly, I can't believe Diana stayed the whole day signing books! She truly adores her fan and the wait was worth it. Have been many times and enjoyed it. This year was not very good. I understand the weather posed a problem, a lot of the events were cancelled, the Avenue of the clans was deserted, but to cancel the massed bands when it hadn't rained for almost 2 hrs put a damper on the whole thing. This is our first time attending. The games seem very well run, very well organized, with one exception: the parking is ridiculous. We arrived quite early, ended up parked in a back field, meaning we had to lug all of our dance gear to the farthest opposite side, through the mud (this was before the monsoon hit) and then back again after (through the rivers and mud after the monsoon hit). It would be a nice gesture if some preference was given to dancers in regards to parking. the general public, just walking in empty handed can easily walk from a back field. We have paid a lot of money to be there, so I don't think we should have to. Read Less
