Victoria (reception ) is a warm and welcoming face! She was very kind and personable loved working with her.Nicole did my tattoo and I'm beyond pumped about it. She was very gentle and knew exactly where and when it would suck the MOST. She took the time to listen to me about the tattoo I picked, and revamped the whole thing when I got cold feet about the design. She made some beautiful art on me, and talked to me the whole way through about whatever. I enjoined that part the most and not felt like I was bugging her or distracting her.Her artwork is phenomenal and I think I found a NEW GIRL who will be doing a lot of my work from now on. A welcoming and very clean cute shop.  The tattooers here really care about your comfort and well being.  Tattoos are not easy things - it is artwork created by piercing skin with a sharp objects and there are many contributing factors to the outcome of the piece - including what the tattooer can do but also how your body is and what you do for follow up while healing.  The tattooers here really do their part!  Gerry, the owner, does amazing work.  He listens.  He is careful.  His lines are beautiful.  He is funny and patient.  And he will do touch ups.  He wants the best for you and you can feel it.  I love what he does. Gerry first tattooed me 8 years ago. I travelled all the way from Saskatchewan on recommendation from a friend who had most of her tattoos done by him. I recently came in to get my chest piece touched up. It was a lot easier this time - maybe he's gotten gentler with age, haha! Everything is healing up nicely. I also think it's a true testament to his work that I have come back since. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Nicole, their newest artist. If I had more time in the city, I'd have grabbed a small piece from her book of flash - her designs are lovely. She also did some consults with a few walk-in clients and was very professional. Thumbs up. I was the first appointment of the day, and almost immediately all the tables were up and every artist was busy poking away. Busy shop! Impressively clean, perfect location as well. There's so much to do in the area! Conversation was pleasant and it was nice that he remembered me from all those years ago. I have since relocated to Vancouver but have yet to get tattoos from anyone in the city in the 4 years I've been there. The ferry ride alone is worth the trip over, but I will certainly be making my way back to Tattoo Zoo in the near future again, regardless of the distance. Read Less

I'm really sorry to have to write this review, because I think Gerry Kramer is a great guy, but I will not be getting a tattoo from him ever again. I had a large piece done by him over a year ago and the scarring that I ended up with in some areas still hasn't settled down, leaving me with areas that are constantly sore and flaking off skin. The attention to detail that you would expect from a tattoo artist who has been working as long as he has just isn't there. Lines aren't straight or even, they are thicker in some areas than in others (sometimes on the same, straight line), there are major color discrepancies between what should be identical details and I have blowouts in some areas (something that I've never experienced before). I had this tattoo finished in two sessions and after the first one, I didn't want to go back, but I don't like the idea of asking a tattoo artist to finish another artists work. Adding insult to injury, this was also the most I have ever paid for any tattoo work in my life. I understand that you pay based on "what the artists time is worth," but with tax included I paid nearly $1000 for five hours of work.The shop itself is very clean and comfortable, so I wouldn't count out any of the other artists there, but I wouldn't recommend Gerry and unfortunately, I have been steering other people away from him when they ask for my opinion of tattoo artists in town.
