I went to see Kylie on a recommendation. I couldn't be happier. I had a very difficult and large tattoo (my whole back with a cover-up then wrapped to a half sleeve). I had gone to another shop and the artist's (handsome....) was a pathetic copy from the internet. When I met with Kylie for a consult she sat down and started doing rough sketches and was right on the money. It's like she was in my brain. Many many hours in the chair and I couldn't be happier with the work. Any time someone sees my tattoo their jaw drops and then they ask me who the artist is. I went in to get my second tattoo a couple weeks ago and I was blown away by the studio and it's employees. The studio is big, bright and very clean. The entire staff was very helpful when I asked questions. After looking at the artists portfolio I decided to get my tattoo done by Cory, and let me tell you he was the nicest guy I've spoken to. He helped me calm down after I had troubles with driving downtown so I was a little late and was just super helpful and gave me step by step instructions of what he was going to do and everything. Had my first tattoo done by Scott at Painted Lotus today. I have seen my husband have a sleeve done by him and it's absolutely amazing. We had been discussing a tattoo for myself for over three years and he was so patient, reassuring with no pressure! Painted Lotus is hands down one of the best tattoo shops I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. All the artists are incredibly talented, professional and uber friendly which is often, not always, but often, lacking in many other shops. Luckily we have many fine establishments in Victoria and Painted Lotus is at the top of that list. He was fun and made sure me and my friend were comfortable and he also had great conversations with us. I highly recommend this studio if you get to Vancouver Island and the artist Genghis Shawn. Went in for a nose piercing myself with my mum who went in for a Marilyn Monroe piercing. Jean Paul is very friendly and talkative. He was kind and open to any questions we had. The piercing was done so quickly that neither of us hardly felt a thing. He explained in detail aftercare and process that piercing entails. Professional and courteous . He is terrific at his work and will come highly recommended from my mom and I. I got my nose pierced by JP and he was wonderful! Super nice guy and makes you feel very comfortable with the whole process. Explained every step and talked me through the actual piercing so well. I didn't get my ears done by him but he fixed my half grown over ear piercing in about 5 seconds with absolutely no pain, and better yet, no charge! I could not give a more raving review about Jean Paul. If you're looking for someone who wants to make sure your piercing is *PERFECT*, he's your guy. He took the time to explain everything, assured me that my nose was suited for the piercing, was very thorough throughout the entire process, and answered all of my questions. It was an incredibly safe environment and he makes sure you're relaxed. He books an hour for septum piercings, whereas most places give you maybe 20 minutes, but he wants to take his time. Not to mention he is one of the friendliest people I've met and is ~incredibly~ passionate about his job and the quality of his piercings. Its not so easy for someone my age to walk into a tattoo shop for the first time and book a tattoo. I grew up with the typical tattoo stigmas and never thought I would get one for myself. Ah, but times have changed, and after 10 years of pondering what I would want on my body for life, it finally hit me and I called these guys. Excellent service at this shop. From booking my appointment to the septum piercing I got from J.P, everyone was friendly, enthusiastic and always kept communicating with me. JP has a lot of passion for his job. He is a lovely man, very caring and methodical in his work. I have definitely found my go-to place for piercing and perhaps tattoos as well.  I would love to see pictures of piercings he does on Instagram, as it's currently all tattoos. I got an upper lobe piercing here from Jean-Paul a few days ago - he was excellent. I came in at about 1pm on a Saturday and he offered me an appointment at 4. When I came back, there was quite a line-up of people wanting consultations, jewellery changes etc - I was at the back of the line and ended up having to wait 40 minutes. A little annoying, but the staff were very nice about it and there are worse places to kick around for a while.The actual piercing part was easy - JP was great at suggesting placement and went out of his way to show that everything was being done hygienically etc. He managed to place it in a way that avoided the cartilage, which was ideal. He's been doing the job for decades and is obviously hugely passionate about it. He even went as far as to recommend a place in Vancouver (where I live) where they can help with any future piercings/after care. It's now a few days later and my piercing seems to be healing well.I also appreciated that he didn't try and sell me any overpriced aftercare rubbish - he just suggested salt water twice a day. JP was super sweet and explained everything in detail before the piercing, he showed me the jewelry available and made sure the placement was perfect.
