My experience here was horrible. The staff is unprofessional and disorganized. At our first consultation, she told me she would send me drawings of my idea for a tattoo and over a period of two months (because the official appointment was in two months) I received nothing. And the whole time I was not suspicious of anything because her apprentice was sending me emails, saying that she received my emails and passed them on to Teresa (the tattoo artist). Then, when I tried to get a refund for the deposit and drawing fee (I still have the receipt) Teresa the owner refused to provide me with it, stating that she had done the drawing anyway, even though I never got a single drawing. Also, in a very childish way she blamed her apprentice for it all because she handled her emails and quit and Teresa (an adult) doesn't know how to email or open emails (even though she emailed me to let me know), and thats why she never communicated with me. Please avoid going here for your own sake, to not waste your time and money. I'm only giving it one star because you have to give it something to post a review, otherwise I would give her a zero. Her work is always beautiful and intricate, perfectly representing whatever we spoke about during her very thorough consultation process. This is a review for Sam Mcwilliams, genius tattoo artist and all around lovely person!Bestie and I had done some hunting around to find a good tattoo artist for our bi-annual bestie tattoo adventure. Sam popped up, and I was instantly sold - the photos on her profile showed her line work was sharp and clean, just what I wanted.She organised a quick consultation first, which I'm really glad about - it was great to connect with her. On the day the shop was busy, and the tables are quite close together, so come prepared for that. Sam chatted with us first, before working carefully to place the tattoos exactly where we both wanted them.She has an incredibly light touch - which is an enormous help when you're getting a painful spot done (hello foot, how're those nerve endings doing??) I was in Vancouver visiting my best friend this past weekend (from Ontario). It's our 25 year friendship anniversary, and we wanted to get tattoos to celebrate it! My friend went in ahead of time to discuss our two different tattoo ideas with the artist, Geoff Funk. He not only took the ideas that we had, but he took them to a whole other level. To say that our tattoos are beautiful is an understatement. The day was extremely special to us, and I imagine it could have gone ...a lot differently if we had chosen a different shop/artist. The shop has such a good, friendly, inviting vibe. No "pretentious artist" attitudes, and I felt welcomed as soon as I stepped in. In fact, I received a number of hugs that day from the lovely owner, Teresa. My artist, Darci, is great! She does amazing colour work and is a real pleasure to get a tattoo from. I have three tattoos from her and I love them all. She does great line work, and is very good at putting fine details into something in such a way that they stand out and keep their shape as the tattoo ages. She does beautiful designs and has a real eye for what colours work well together, and how to make a tattoo "pop". She is a real professional and a very efficient tattoo artist. Although I could probably give this place five stars solely based on the fact that it is WOMAN OWNED AND OPERATED (always an exception in any field but particularly in this one) or that it is a singularly un-hip, un pretentious, No Attitude vibe and presentation (also noteworthy in this field) this review is really for Sam McWilliams who we followed up the coast from San Francisco for the sole purpose of getting a tattoo. She's only at this place temporarily so go get it now.Seriously, my person waited three years to get a tattoo because he only wanted it from Sam & it took that long to get to be in the same place at the same time w/ the equipment to do it.Why Sam? Well, because she has done great work on me over the years, and has only gotten better. I have gotten tattoo work from Sam in SF and NYC and got my little sister a tattoo from her as  a graduation present. I've had cover up and fresh work. And my stuff looks great. And I have tattoos from other folks and they are not that good. Nor were they as fun to get. (see below)So-my tattoos look good but the tattoo my person got is a real stunner- it's part cover- up, part original. The placement and design did wonders. The colors are perfect. The design is perfect. It healed with less irritation and scabing than any I've seen because Sam knows how to give a great tattoo, and not to carve a scarification design into your flesh.Also, back to getting a tattoo; like I said, I've gotten a few, ok, Seven to be precise. And getting a tattoo is kind of like having your therapist give you a Brazillian. It hurts. And you're usually having some kind of personal association with it and the person doing it is, like, Really close to you. And maybe you want to talk to them, or maybe you don't. Maybe you are scared. Or maybe you are in your head and want to be there. A good tattoo artist knows how to listen, help you communicate what where and how you want permanent, meaningful art installed and then get you through the procedure without being a dick to you while they hurt you. And I say that because I've had several tough guys be total jerks who's work I've had to pay to cover up because not only were they jerks, they did bad work.  Yes, expect it to hurt. No, do not expect someone to be a jerk to you about the fact that it hurts. Don't expect them to talk you through it like a labor coach either because you want them to FOCUS, but expect them to be with you, and paying attention.Sam knows how to pay attention. She will get you to tell her your dream, make it a beautiful reality, and install it permanently while being a present, confident guide through the process, all without feeling like she's trying to make you feel better or sucking up. She's practical, very real and "down to earth" and one hell of a talented artist. Do not settle for anything less- this sh*t is Permanent after all. Read Less

Had a tattoo done by Darci and I am extremely pleased with everything from the consult through the actual tattooing, and of course the tattoo itself. I stopped by in June and was hoping to have a consult with Darci whose work I had seen on the shop's website. Darci just happened to be available at the time I dropped by. I shared what I had in mind and Darci immediately grasped it and sketched out a really good quick draft of the image. Some time afterward she emailed me a more complete sketch, which I was also quite impressed with. Finally, on the day of the tattoo she showed me the final copy and it looked perfect to me. The actual tattooing was much less painful than I anticipated and Darci seemed very efficient in her work. It took me two years to choose my artist and when I did, I chose Hilary and never looked back. We finished my half sleeve 3 days ago (37 hours under the needle over the course of a year and 8 sessions). Hilary has amazing artistic talent, especially at designing things that look great in tattoos and not just on paper. I had a great experience in this shop, no one looked down on me for being tattoo-less when I first walked in. The other artists are great as well. Highly recommend this shop. Read Less
