Came here to see Katie Osmand after seeing her work at tattoo expo, for my first tattoo. was a bigger leg piece. All I can say is completely ecstatic with the work she has done and the colour job, along with her eye for detail and how awesome she is to spend 13+ hours with! Also seeing tons of her previous art plastered all over the walls of her room, you can really get a feel for her extreme talent! All the artists in the shop are also a joy, quite a few of them kept coming in to check out the piece and gave nothing but encouraging words and compliments. Everyone at this shop including the owner of which I joked around with on and off was nothing but very friendly with me. Would recommend this shop to anyone considering getting a tattoo. I was really excited to get my Helix ear piercings, I saw the reviews on this shop and went ahead. Troy was gentle and I didn't feel much pain. He pierced my ears with really small hoops that within the next 2-3 days my ears became so painful, swollen and the piercings cut through my skin. I called them numerous times and once they told me he is busy. The other times no one would pick up so I left a message and didn't hear back from anyone. I drove all the way back to the store so they can do something about it and they told me Troy isn't in today and recommended I go to another store. As soon as they looked at my ear they told me how bad a job this was and surely the earrings cut through my skin. Thankfully, I caught it on time so it will heal but I am super upset that when a problem happened with their service I felt like I was disregarded and ignored. My friend and I recently got pierced at this shop, by the lovely Michelle. This was my first ear cartilage (daith) and for my friend- a nose pierce. This was my twelfth stud and I was nothing less than entirely impressed with Michelle's experience and excellent customer service. I also got a new stud for both sides of my nose and the flatbacks you can find here are amazing. I felt absolutely no pain when the needle went through and the transition of placing the jewellery was smooth and almost painless. horrible girl at front desk lost my business. they didnt listen to what I wanted and argued against all the information I'd gathered from at least a dozen other sources. I wanted to get my anti-eyebrow done, based on what most piercers told me i decided on a micro-dermal.. perhaps both eyes if the pain from one didnt kill me (its my first one)I wish I had the chance to actually deal with someone friendly there it's the closest place to my home.. but this place is not friendly and the know-it-all up front is a ---- who needs her ears cleaned and a slap upside her head. I'd say go anywhere before you go to this place and give these people your money for less-than perfect tattoos and piercings. she was pushing a surface piercing on me saying it's better than a dermal, which is the opposite of what I was told everywhere else I talked to, then wouldn't let me decide if I wanted to go ahead with the second eye after I'd done the first, at first saying she couldn't mark it evenly after one side is pierced and swells - DUH! I told her we could just mark both sides before and I could decide whether or not I wanted the second after I got one side done. No she argued now she says I'm too unsure. I called in yesterday for two walk ins, a lady named Amanda said she could at 2:30, it being 11-12 at the time I called. We wasted 2 hours waiting and then another hour telling her what we wanted she was very discouraging at our ideas, going on to say that it would look bad, persisted that we had to get something that she already had drawn up. Now having your opinion on someone's idea is one thing but completely shooting down every idea that person has is completely ridiculous, quite frankly it's not going to be on their body for the rest of their life, it's going time be on mine. I then got a call concerning my son at daycare and had to leave during a consult and she rudely asked what I would have done during the tattoo which I replied with I would have had to leave, obviously my son is more important than a tattoo, as we were walking out she said a very rude comment under her breathe. I've been here twice and never had any issues. The staff are always friendly and personable. The first time I went here was to get a belly button ring. I can't remember what they call it but for a marble esque one (white and turquoise) it was $80. The ball screws into the pin part, so it has never come out or given me any trouble. It actually helped my piercing heal faster than the one put in where I had it done (somewhere else). The second time I was here it was to get my nose pierced. I showed up around 1215 and had two people ahead of me. It was my turn within half an hour so I was super impressed. Troy did my piercing. His voice is honestly so relaxing I couldn't have even been nervous if I wanted to. It cost $75+GST to get my nostril pierced, including the jewellery stud. I have been to some questionable tattoo parlours for both tattoos and piercings, but this one is honestly at the top of my list for a return. I will be going back in the future for more piercings and hopefully be able to see how their tattoo service is as well. This place is definitely worth checking out for their reasonable prices, friendly staff, and great work. Read Less

I recently went in to the shop to have some piercings done. The place was very welcoming, well kept and clean. The staff I dealt with were very friendly and answered my questions eagerly. I had my work done by Troy. He helped me with decisions about locations and the size of the jewelry that was needed. He made some recommendations that were aesthetically more pleasing and that was greatly appreciated. I would recommend Eye of the Lotus to anyone for tattoos and piercings. Can't attest to the tattooing but Troy is the best piercer I've ever been to! Very professional, sanitary and calming throughout the whole process. I had microdermal piercings done here and he meticulously checked to make sure they were even, and made sure that I was happy with the placement too before proceeding. He explained exactly what he would do beforehand and talked me through it. The price was also way better than I expected because I had previously been going to a shop in the mall so had been accustomed to their jacked up prices. Also, when one of my dermal tops came off in my sleep a few weeks later and the skin grew over it, he fixed it for me for free and I was in and out in 10 minutes. 100% plan on coming back here for all my future piercings! But mostly because they couldn't give me the time of day to even offer me customer service! I called a few days ago and wasn't able to get in touch with anyone. I've had 2 pretty significant tattoos done here, one by Natasha and one by Jenny, and I'm thrilled with both.Both tattoos I had were memorial tattoos in honor of my mum and dad, therefore they were very special to me and I had high standards for the work.Natahsa was off the chain with the first one I had.  I gave her a few ideas of what I was looking for and the piece she eventually created was just outstanding. She knew better than I did when it came to what I wanted.  Her work is pristine and 3 years on the tattoo still looks incredible and fresh.Jenny did my second, a tribute to my dad that was also a cover up.  She was very helpful and forthcoming with what I could realistically expect from a cover up. Though the design was not exactly what I was looking for or what I thought I had communicated, it turned out bomb and I love it.I would have gone 5 stars but as mentioned by someone before, I've major issues with contact.  I find the phone rings off the hook and email communication is very spotty.  Though I did just now call and was answered right away and booked in no problem. So maybe that's improved over the years I've been with them.I do find the atmosphere a liiiiiiiiittle tattoo-snobby. It's common in tat shops and I find it exists a bit too here.  Just little sense of too-cool attitudes from the staff. This does not reflect at all on the customer service or the work, just more of a heads-up that yes, you may feel a little intimidated by all the "cool" people mingling and mixing in the shop. It's a thing with tattoo artists and clientele, they can suit themselves, if you wanna feel hipper than hip cause you give or get tattoos, fill yer boots buds!  It's certainly no reason not to visit this top notch shop. Kyla was great and very friendly throughout the entire process for my forward helix. She had good advice for picking the right jewelry size for my ear, and I appreciated her  honest recommendations for aftercare (DIY sea salt rinse or the spray...I bought the spray).  It's been 2 weeks so far and I haven't had any problems with the piercing (no pain or swelling afterwards!)The only downside to their location is the limited parking around the shop, but otherwise no complaints! I recently came here less than a month ago. I chose Eye of the Lotus based on the positive reviews. I picked Nadia to do my tattoo as she had great reviews and her portfolio looked awesome. So, I personally emailed Nadia to book an appointment. Between our email exchanges, Nadia told me she did not want to draw out the tattoo design that I wanted from her and show me on email in case I took her design to another artist. I thought this was fair and requested that if meeting in store would be better and she stated that it's fine if I come in the same day as my actual tattoo booking to see the drawing for the first time. I thought this was odd but didn't question her because I assumed she would know what she's doing based on her expertise. On the day of my appointment, she had a tattoo drawn for me which I liked, but of course would like a bit of changes as this is the first time that I will be seeing something that will be permanently on my body. She did not seem too happy with the fact that she had to do some fixings -for something that will be on MY body for a lifetime. Needless to say, I had to wait in the waiting room (main lobby) for 2 hours as she fixed my tattoo and I could hear her chatting to her colleagues! After I waited 2 hours for her (without any notification from her for how long I will be waiting for her), she came in and still seemed pretty upset that she had to do 'major changes' to my tattoo. She voiced this quite a few times.Anyway, long story short, my actual tattoo only look an hour (I timed it because she made me wait 2 hours in the waiting room), was incomplete and told me to rebook in January for adding color, etc. Later, I had emailed her asking how long it would take to complete my tattoo, which is ~4cm long and 3 cm wide, she told me it would take 3-4 hours! I know for the fact that my tattoo definitely would not take that long from my previous experience and from friends who have had large tattoos. Nadia was certainly not professional in her emails and demonstrated hostility and rudeness towards me, a client. I personally have never experienced such rude comments from someone who I am providing my business to.I definitely will not be returning here. I did not expect this from Eye of the Lotus after reading  reviews of their work. Read Less

I followed Jenny here from another shop she had been working at before, and she has definitely continued to impress! I have now received three tattoos from Jenny at Eye of the Lotus, and six in total. She is an absolutely fantastic artist, and I can't even express how happy I am to have found an artist that I jive so well with. I come up with something vague that I kinda like, and Jenny always turns it into a beautiful piece of custom artwork. At this point, I'm never planning on giving her specific instructions, because she seems to understand what I want better than I do!  Seriously, give her as much artistic license as you can, and she will amaze you. Or don't, and she'll still amaze you. She's very versatile in her art styles; I personally have had a watercolour tattoo and a pointillism tattoo from her, among others, and she does great work with realism! She is also really personable and entertaining, and the whole experience of being tattooed is a very positive one. I've brought a couple of friends to Jenny for their first tattoos, and they also had a really fantastic experience with her. One of those friends was really pain-sensitive and difficult to tattoo, but Jenny worked with her and kept her calm, gave her the breaks that she needed, and the tattoo still looked absolutely flawless, even though she had been pretty squirmy! The shop itself is very clean and well-kept. While I haven't seen any of the other staff there for tattoos or piercings, I have met a few of them during my appointments with Jenny, and they are a great crowd to be around. The whole place is a very comfortable, fun environment and they're very flexible to make your consultation/appointment work with your schedule. They've called a few days in advance of my appointments to confirm them every single time, and pretty much any staff member there can answer any procedural questions you may have. The tools/ink/materials they use are very high quality; I can feel the difference from other shops/artists that I have been to. The pricing is very fair as well, and you definitely get what you pay for. I would recommend this shop to anyone, especially if you're going to see Jenny! Read Less

Nadia did an amazing job on my leg tattoo! I was looking for a place to get my first tattoo done at and I spent a long time researching before actually choosing someone and beginning the process. I was very pleased to find Nadia at Eye of the Lotus. I lucked out and she was able to get me in for a consultation right away. We went back and forth on the design plans for my tattoo, and with her input on location, size, colours, and details, I was able to get a stencil that I was absolutely thrilled with! The shop has a nice, open lobby with friendly staff. Whoever was at the front desk always made sure I had been helped, and all my calls and emails were always returned promptly. My only complaint is that the consultations on my drawing took place right at the front desk beside other customers coming and going. I didn't feel very comfortable with this setting, as I was just standing there and thought it should have been a private one-on-one.Overall, super happy! My tattoo turned out fabulously! I wanted to get an old tattoo of mine covered up with a new design, and a friend of mine had just got a beautiful piece from Clare at Eye of the Lotus, so I knew that's where I wanted to check out for mine.It was a month wait just to get in for a consult, but anyplace that's any good will probably have a long wait to get in, so I can't really complain.  And after I met Clare and discussed what I wanted, I knew she was the right artist for me!I was able to get in a week later (thanks to a cancellation in her schedule), and she went right to work.Its nice to see them set up everything in front of you so there's no question about the cleanliness and sterility of the needles, etc.  And I worked in a hospital for a year, and I don't think I've seen anyone go through more gloves than Clare!  She was very conscientious about making sure everything stayed sterile which, in turn, made me more comfortable.When it came time to start the tattoo, Clare made sure I was happy with the design as she sketched it out, and then she went to work.  She was incredibly professional and friendly; she was great at keeping the conversation flowing to distract me from the needles being jammed into my skin.And I think the final result is stunning.  I can't wait to go back for my next one! Very amazing artist here at Eye of the Lotus, Natasha's art and tattoos are amazing!  She has fixed some of my old tattoo's, and we have finally started on some new projects, which have turned out AMAZING!  Natasha is great at listening and taking my ideas seriously for my tattoo's, while giving her expert opinion, in fact the more suggestions, the better the tattoo she always says!  Before coming to Eye of the Lotus, I read that the front end of the store was very unprofessional, well maybe that was the case over a year ago, but I have not experienced anything of the sort. This shop is courteous, and respectful and I even received a  reminder call of my appointment.  This tattoo shop is clean, and professional, you would be crazy to not at least check this place out before getting any work done! I found this gem through a friend. I was experiencing quite a bit of anxiety towards having my lip pierced, Troy put me right at ease. Almost no pain whatsoever.
