I was getting my nosed pierced. i walked in there and waited about 15 minutes. the guy that was working at the front desk was SUPER nice and funny. i was very comfortable. I went a while back but it was amazing. The piercer answered all of my questions and was polite and didn't push or rush me in the slightest. I got my eyebrow pierced and even when I went back out to pay, all the staff complimented me and made me feel super happy and confident with the service. I plan on going back for all future piercings. Update: went back a few days ago to get a septum piercing and was thoroughly unimpressed. The man at the front counter told me my nose was crooked and as I was filling out the paperwork was talking quite loudly about how he can't wait to get home so he can "eat my boyfriends ass". It was very unprofessional and not what I want to hear about. When the piercer came out she said I have to go alone and I said that if I had to go alone I wasn't going. I left the shop but my boyfriend went back and tried to explain that I have specific reasons that I need someone with me and asked if I could be pierced by anyone else so that he could be in the room with me. The woman then told him that she has anxiety and having a second person in the room is too much for her. I went in to get piercings and found the front end staff very friendly. Caleigh was my piercer and I can not say enough about how amazing she is. She's very professional and super comforting for a wimp like me who didn't think I'd be able to get both nipples done. A few days later I was concerned that the swelling was too much for the length of barbell so she had me come right in. She took a look and reassured me that everything was fine but offered to switch them out if I wasn't comfortable. I trust her judgement so I left them and feel much more relaxed now. I gave 3 stars because the staff was very friendly and the environment was clean. this is a good place to get pierced, but beware, their jewelry prices are INSANE. I wanted a pair of simple straight barbells with a gem on each side and they quoted me at $250 for the pair! I went to At Needlepoint at Londonderry mall and they quoted me at less than $100 for the same pair. it's sad that Dragon FX spikes their prices so much and rips off customers that don't know any better. if you want some nice, premium quality jewelry, I highly recommend At Needlepoint at Londonderry mall. This being my first Tattoo i was stupid nervous. I have put off getting one for so long because i was afraid i wouldn't be able to handle the pain. Wendy my tattoo artist was extremely nice and friendly through the entire process. The thing i loved most about my first interaction was that all the staff showed true concern and genuine helpfulness when helping me throughout the process. From the guy at the desk that helped talk down my fears. To Wendy who wasn't just awesome at her job and gave me an awesome tattoo. She was also very friendly and talked me through the entire thing. Making sure i was comfortable throughout the whole process. I'm not sure if they do a test line to all clients but i appreciated that they were looking out for my experience rather then my money. She talked to me and my husband throughout the whole process explained everything that was happening. My first Tattoo experience was amazing. Poor customer service. 6 year old daughter chose turquoise color studs from display case. Samples were blue/green color and staff mentioned variations in blue/greeness between pairs. No problem - we like blue/green. No word of brown colored veins in some pieces. Piercer brought out a 2.5 mm pair but kept them in her hand - no offer to inspect the pieces. We focused on earring placement, the smile on our kid's face, and hustled our small kids home to bed. Noted a mark on one earring and planned to clean it in morning. Turned out to be a brown colored vein (simulating natural turquoise) running through the tiny earring. Our 6 year old doesn't care about realistic brown veins in synthetic turquoise - she just wanted pretty blue/green earrings and that's what we thought we purchased. Now she has one that makes her friends ask why it looks dirty - not exactly the keepsake earrings we hoped for. We asked Manager for one replacement earring. We should have insisted on inspecting the jewellery, but trusted we were getting the same earring as advertised. The display samples were not labelled "synthetic turquoise" to tip us off and there were no examples of brown veins in the turquoise display pieces. Staff, who knew about brown color variations, didn't say a helpful word, like "there's a large brown vein running through this tiny earring - is that okay?" I was also dismayed that I inadvertently tipped 25% on over $150 worth of jewellery in addition to piercing service - total bill was $183 - ouch indeed. The credit card machine doesn't itemize costs and at that point in our visit I couldn't remember what Reception said about the price of piercing vs earrings vs shafts...Would be helpful if Dragon FX gave an invoice to review, not just a cc card receipt at the end of payment transaction. Manager acknowledged our concerns and offered 20% off the cost of a new $25 earring. This feels like a token response to a reasonable request for one replacement earring. We came to get a professional piercing and the ear is healing well, thankfully. In light of our overall experience, however, we will not recommend, or return to Dragon FX. Read Less

I got my ears pierced here by Caleigh. I was really nervous but she calmed me down (as much as she could) with her humor. The piercing itself was done quick and relatively painlessly. My ear lobes are oddly shaped and Caleigh took the time to make sure it was even and symmetrical. She did an excellent job. The facility itself is clean and the instruments and materials are sterilized and single use only. The facility has pretty strict rules (ie no cameras, guests in the room must sit on the chair and not move) and this is for everyone's safety. Read Less

Went to get a tattoo here, despite hearing multiple bad reviews, definitely not impressed with the service, or the price... I'll make a quick list of pros and cons down below and my personal experience throughout so people and judge if they'd like to go somewhere else after that. *P.S. my artist was Todd*Pros:- The line work on my tattoo is good.Cons:-They made me put down a $100 down deposit for a walk in- *not an appointment* already this sketched me out.-The "artist" took an exact picture off my phone and printed it out, no extra drawing he literally just traced out a photo on my leg...-The guy made no attempt at small talk, he just told me he was tired and wanted to work. Even more he discouraged me to talking with my friend in the room too...-I sat in a tattoo chair in awkward silence staring at the ceiling for 2 hours felt very uncomfortable.-He charged me $165 an hour, took his sweet time since I felt him going over the same lines at least 3 times...-End of the day it was $250 for 2 hours of just simple line work on a ***simple***tattoo the size of my palm and added on $35 shop rate and with tax came to $293 or about $300... -I felt ripped off and the friends I was with said the exact same, Todd offered me a better price for the color because I was obviously overcharged...-Only way to contact artists even in their cards is through Dragon FX the shop. Todd then cowered behind "standard shop rate" and said it would be at least another $165 plus another $35 shop rate to finish this simple piece.Conclusions: Unless you want to pay $500 for a simple tattoo the size of your palm I suggest you look for a proper tattoo shop and an actual artist instead of a tracer like Todd. They break their promises and are just looking to make money off you, instead of helping you get something awesome. Read Less

way too expensive! I went in to get a hoop for my nose piercing that I had gotten done at Orchid in West Ed, and they told me it was too far up on my nose and I couldn't get one, and they tried charging me $60+ to get a new piercing that I didn't want. I also wanted to get two sets of piercings on my ear lobe and it was $230! I went to Orchid and told them what this place said and I was told I could get a hoop, also at Orchid, two sets of ear lobe piercings are $164! I have 7 years of experience dealing with my own mods and piercings and take all steps to insure my jewelry is quality. I have been wearing jewelry from Wicked for 5 out of those 7 years with absolutely no issues, so for your staff to completely ignore my actual question/issue and instead just slander and belittle a fellow company is absolutely disgusting. Not impressed. I wanted to get my nipples pierced, I called half a dozen times before going to this location, never once had my call answered.  They advertise to be open until 9:00pm, I walked through the door at 8:08 and was turned away because the guy figured he just wouldn't possibly have enough time to get the paperwork, Piercings, and clean-up done before 9:00. I proceeded to go to the West Ed Mall location, (after calling ahead first and having my call answered promptly!!) I walked in their door at about 8:42, and the staff was more than happy/willing to accommodate me. Paperwork took literally 2 minutes, set-up approx 5 mins, piercings another 2 mins, and her clean-up was done by the time I (delicately) re-dressed from the waist up. From walk-in to Walk-out it was about 15 mins, so what it boils down to is the piercer at the Kingsway location simply wanted his shift to be over at 8:08 instead of 9:00 like it was supposed to be. I got my tragus pierced about two weeks ago here and I couldnt have imagined a better result. I went in expecting the worst because I heard a lot of horror stories about getting your tragus pierced. People said that they could hear their cartilage breaking or like it would get infected very severely, so I was pretty afraid and I didn't have high pain tolerance at all. I went in with three of my aunts and the receptionist explained to us that the piercing was $50 and then the jewelry can go anywhere from 35 to 75 dollars. In my opinion a little bit overpriced but I was getting it professionally done I guess. I got my tragus pierced by this British / Australian guy, I couldn't really tell because he had a really slight accent. When I went into the piercing room the receptionist told me I could only bring one person in with me which I didn't really mind. When the piercer was getting all the materials ready I tried my hardest not to look at anything because then I would get really terrified and nervous. He marked the spot where he thought the piercing would look nice and then proceeded to pierce my ear. He didn't really explain to me what he was doing which was fine with me because I rather him not tell me anything so I don't expect anything then him telling me what he is doing. And to my surprise the piercing didn't hurt at all, it was more of an uncomfortable feeling rather than painful. It just felt like a lot of pressure on my tragus but not pain at all which was super surprising for me because I expected at least a little bit of pain. After I got the piercing I didn't even remember it was there because it didnt hurt at all like there was no after pain or stinging afterward. It hasn't gotten infected so far cross my fingers knock on wood, I'm really happy with the results and I would definitely go get another piercing at this parlor again. I would say getting my cartilage pierced at claires what more paonful because of the after pain. 1/10 on the tragus pain scale. Read Less

We were told it would be one hour to do both our tattoos. 3 hours later and $500, actually $200 more than what we were quoted at and we left disappointed with the pricing. Do not go to this place for a tattoo. I put down a $400 deposit for an all day session with Karl. A couple days before my appointment his "car caught on fire" and had to rebook me a month later. I called two days before to confirm my appointment. When I came in saturday for my session someone told me I cancelled the appointment. Coincidentally there was another person with my name getting a tattoo by the same guy the very next day. So the girl cancelled my appointment instead of the other guys. Fantastic communication. Then Karl said he wasn't ready for me anyways. He was going to work on it 6 hours before he went to bed the night before. I'm sorry, but if I'm getting a tattoo by someone, I want them to put effort into their and my artwork that will be tattooed on me forever, not a rushed sketch to draw on me. Now I have to wait an hour for the boss to give me my deposit back. This has honestly been the worst tattoo experience and tattoo shop I've encountered. I know people have slandered this company before, and I can totally see why. If you can avoid getting a tattoo here, DO IT. Read Less

I must say I have had over 100 piercings in my lifetime from all over the world and have never been so disappointed and appauled by this shop.  The piercer was a female who's top concerns were belittling me and talking non stop trash about every other shop and piercer in the city.  The entire staff I dealt with was rude and all seemed to have that youthful sence of entitlement.  I own over 10 business and would fire anyone on my staff if they treated people anything close to this piercer.  It seemed so important to her to mention where not to go rather than speaking highly of herself and staff, it reminded me of my 2 young children.  I am also cross contaminated certified and was disgusted with how many things she was touching and then touching me, I went to a clinic to get myself tested and results are pending.  I wpuld urge anyone never to step foot in this pretentious shop, its in a mall for god sakes and like most mall retailers they came up oh so short.  Go to a real tattoo and piercing studio not a mall, like really. I've had a few good experiences with this shop; once, when I was pierced by someone under experienced for my septum, they advised me to remove the piece and did so for me immediately, which was incredibly nice of them. Then, I've bought a few pieces from their ship and had them put in for me; including having my nostrils repierced after losing the jewelry while abroad; they kindly repierced and the healing time was fast due to their artist's knowledge of her craft; I suggest Beans, although I'm sure a lot of their staff is just as knowledgable. I've yet to be tattooed by them, but I've had such a lovely experience with them about my peircings; they've very friendly, and professional, and it's easily one of the better piercing shops in Edmonton. . Went and got a PA done here, Lexi was awesome right from the start. She wouldn't get too descriptive at the counter for obvious reasons being around other people.  But once in the piercing room answered all my questions, made sure I was comfortable and relaxed and let me know what exactly what was going on. Had to get a larger diameter ring put in a few weeks later, of which DragonFX didn't have any in stock but she called another "competitor" (But a piercer she knows very well)  to see if they had it in stock for me to be able to get it switched out. Never returning here again. As much as people talk about this shop in the industry I didn't really want to believe it. Very rude front service. I don't know if she was having a bad day or not, but she was RUDE. Totally disappointing. She was helping a customer ahead of me and never said "please or thank you" and mumbled, but when the customer asked her to repeat herself because he couldn't understand/hear her she repeated what she said with attitude. Like, seriously?! She kept saying she was new and apologizing for not knowing answers to things but when I asked her how long she has been working there for she said 3 weeks... That's not THAT new, and that's no excuse to act that way. Overall, just shitty service. Maybe they should hire a receptionist/front counter person with less attitude, more knowledge and someone who doesn't blame "being new" as a reason for being unpleasant. I went in in January to get my tongue pierced. The piercer (I cant remember her name I'm sorry) took me back and got me to wash out my mouth with mouthwash. She then looks at my tongue and starts laughing and tells me she cant pierce my tongue because apparently my tongue is far too small. Okay, fine, I'd rather not push for something that might not be safe. We then decided to pierce my lower helix (I already have 2 other helix piercings so I know what to expect). She did not clean my ear before piercing! Of course it got infected badly. Once the infection faded away I was able to see that she also pierced it with much too short of a bar! I had assumed it was just swelling and that it would be okay once swelling went down. That was January, it is now August and my ear is still very swollen and even crusty/oozy. Enough is enough, I'm going to have to buy a longer bar to go in this piercing. Long story short, I do not recommend. She didn't clean my ear so it got infected, and she pierced it with too short of a bar so it will not heal. Read Less

I went to DFX Kingsway to get a tattoo in August. The artists and staff were donating their time to a local animal rescue that day so all the proceeds from the tattoos that day were going to the rescue. The front end staff were very accommodating and friendly, always smiling.The wait was a little long but that is to be expected with tattoos. Better to wait for good quality work than be rushed through for quick, lower quality work. Carl was my artist. What a friendly guy! I noticed right off the bat how easy he was to talk to. He was very professional and very clean. Sterile equipment autoclave bags were opened in front of me once he knew I was watching. The placement was perfect. I was sent home with cleanser and lotion and very thorough aftercare instructions.Almost three months later and my tattoo is healed perfectly. I got my first tattoo from Dragon back in 2000 and since then I've gotten 6 of my 9 tattoos here and 6 piercings. I absolutely love love love Kingway but I would not recommend the West Ed location. The Kingsway locale has awesome staff and really, they put out some of the sickest art. It's awesome. I have nothing to complain about, except maybe the pricing on tattoos. I went here TWICE. 1)The first occasion I got a small tattoo on the inside of my lip. The girl had done it many times before but she made a mistake, theres a randon dot in a place that you can sometimes see when i speak it looks like dirt or something. she promised it would fade but it has not, when i told them they were unapologetic. I didnt even ever get any sor of discount!2)I always try to forgive and give second chances, my birthday i wanted a piercing. I called well in advance to see if I could get my bridge pierced there that night, and the guy on the phone said "ABSOLUTELY come on in."  When I did so, I was greeted with a very unprofessional phrase by some employee who thought he was funny, then informed no one could do my tattoo. I told them I called first and they actually tried to deny the fact that i specified which piercing and were anything BUT apologetic.After giving them 2 chances, I am left with a jacked up tattoo they werent apologetic for, and was left on my birthday with no piercings because of their lack of caring.  I am not the type to complain to this extent - but no apologies were made and I was basically laughed at for not wanting to wait a few days. I went here to get my rook pierced (the little cleft above your ear lobe) and everyone was very professional. I didn't have an appointment so I just walked in with a friend and asked to get a piercing. The staff in the front were very helpful and friendly and the tattoo/piercing artist was also quite professional.
