Very disappointed with my experience with Nick Hill at Obsidian Rose tattoo. Wanted to get a sleeve done, went in after speaking with Nick. Told him what I was looking for and he said no problem I can make that happen. Booked my first session with him in June, spoke with him the day before I was suppose to go look at the drawing, told me to come on in and check it out. Drove out to Chestamere, get there and he tells me he doesn't have anything ready for me to see. Would have been nice if he told me that instead of me driving out to go see it. So he asks me a couple more questions about what I want. So I booked off a day of work already for a couple days later. So he asks if we can move it to July, sure if that gives you time to make this happen. July comes around. I go back out to see him again to check out the drawing, tells me he can't do it how I wanted, ( again could have texted me to tell me this) asks if he can make it more animated. I said sure let's see what happens. So we cancel my next appointment so he has more time to draw it up. At this point I was starting to get pissed off. Drove out to see him twice for no reason, took two days of vacation time to get it started..... So I thought ok I'm not going to bother him he said he would have something for me in the next couple weeks, and we would be in constant communication to make sure it's right. August rolls around, I'm like ok it's been 3 weeks, haven't heard anything from him. I'm going to give him a shout see what's up. Messaged him for 3 days no response at all. With the amount of money I was about to spend on this I would have thought he cared a little bit. Then when he does get back to me he said he hasn't got anything drawn up for me?? I wanted this started in JUNE. Then doesn't even draw it up. So disappointed at this time with this shop. I'm amazed I got my deposit back. Very childish way about going about things in my opinion. So glad I didn't let him touch the skin yet. Who knows how it would have turned out. Only giving them one star cause they gave me my deposit back.

If you don't have a high pain tolerance, I highly suggest you get the numbing cream that they offer you...It works extremely well. Thank you Derrick and Obsidian Rose! I was nervous at the consultation, I knew more what I didnt want then what I did want.. She nailed the drawing. I couldn't even sleep the night be for the tattoo. Who would of knew she could put it on me 10x better then the drawing!? I love the shop, great atmosphere. But seriously get a tat from Sam you won't regret it!!

My first experience was great, Jen designed a tattoo that was beautiful and I was excited about it and it was a tattoo that meant a lot to me. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish it in one session, but they were very understanding and supportive. I made an appointment for next month to get it finished and was looking forward to it. Then, Jen posted on her Facebook, at 8pm that she was leaving the shop in 3 days. The shop was closed so all her clients were left to wonder. Th...e next day her Facebook was deleted. I called the shop and they were very accommodating and said another artist would take over the work but their styles aren't what I'm looking for. Jen stated that this is something she has been thinking about for a while, I can't help but think that if that was the case she should have focused on her half done pieces. If I was reviewing just the shop they would get 5 stars, however allowing someone to be this unprofessional has somewhat ruined my experience. See More

Very poor customer service because if my busy secedual and Chris not being able to draw the tattoo I wanted. Felt it was no use calling figuring it out anymore because no action happends. Feel that people should know this before going into this place may be the only one who may have a complaint of this nature. It's my money and I seen it vanish without no contact for a big peice.

At age 53, I just got my 1st tattoo a few months ago by Jenn, and I also just finished my 2nd tattoo yesterday (a matching couples tattoo with my husband) to celebrate 32 years of marriage, also done by Jenn. I absolutely love them both, and Jenn was fantastic to deal with, her artistry is amazing, and the entire shop from Rachel at the front desk to the other artists was friendly, welcoming, and I felt completely comfortable at all times. Would definitely go back, thanks all!

Absolutely the best and cleanest tattoo shop I have been to. The staff are so friendly and outgoing, they make your experience comfortable and make sure you get what you want. Both myself and partner have multiple tattoos by different people in this shop. We will not go anywhere else now. Worth the 10 minute drive to Chestermere. They book up exceptionally fast.

Avoid this place LIKE THE PLAGUE.I booked a tattoo with Tim, who is also one of the owners of the shop. Before paying my massive deposit, I checked with him - "I get to see a sketch, right?" Yes, yes, of course. What he didn't say is that, unlike other tattoo shops, they don't do re-draws. If you don't like the first sketch, it will cost you upward of $100 to get another one. After 40 minutes of getting yelled at on the phone by a shop assistant who was "not trying to be argumentative," I'd had it. They eventually offered to do a second sketch for free, but not until I'd been made to feel like a total idiot. I declined the second sketch and said I no longer felt comfortable with their shop and wanted to cancel my appointment. The next day, Tim put a post up on the shop's Facebook page publicly shaming me. He didn't name names, but I think this move tells you everything you need to know about their level of respect for clients. Unless you enjoy terrible communication, horrible customer service, and being publicly shamed, you may want to take your cash elsewhere.

Very disappointed with my experience with Nick Hill at Obsidian Rose tattoo. Wanted to get a sleeve done, went in after speaking with Nick. Told him what I was looking for and he said no problem I can make that happen. Absolutely the best and cleanest tattoo shop I have been to. The staff are so friendly and outgoing, they make your experience comfortable and make sure you get what you want. Both myself and partner have multiple tattoos by different people in this shop. We will not go anywhere else now. Worth the 10 minute drive to Chestermere. They book up exceptionally fast.

Avoid this place LIKE THE PLAGUE.I booked a tattoo with Tim, who is also one of the owners of the shop. Before paying my massive deposit, I checked with him - "I get to see a sketch, right?" Yes, yes, of course. What he didn't say is that, unlike other tattoo shops, they don't do re-draws. If you don't like the first sketch, it will cost you upward of $100 to get another one. After 40 minutes of getting yelled at on the phone by a shop assistant who was "not trying to be argumentative," I'd had it. They eventually offered to do a second sketch for free, but not until I'd been made to feel like a total idiot. I declined the second sketch and said I no longer felt comfortable with their shop and wanted to cancel my appointment. The next day, Tim put a post up on the shop's Facebook page publicly shaming me. He didn't name names, but I think this move tells you everything you need to know about their level of respect for clients. Unless you enjoy terrible communication, horrible customer service, and being publicly shamed, you may want to take your cash elsewhere.

Great Family run business. Very clean and comfortable environment. The staff is super friendly and professional. Not your average Tattoo parlor!!
