Great location with lots of pay parking. Has that super clean doctor office smell that you want in a great tattoo studio. Sydney started in my 2nd piece she’s done for me and it’s looking good. Love the sign that says “ Good tattoos aren’t cheap and cheap tattoos aren’t good,”. Pay for what you get. Looking forward to getting my piece finished in a few weeks. I got a tattoo from Karrie over a year ago. She was great to deal with, she's super friendly and has great ideas (I am very vague). Her art is beautiful and her tattooing is some of the best in the city. She's also super quick! You can tell she has experience. The tattoo healed really well, and very dark. The shop is super clean and beautiful (I love the high ceilings), full of great art. The other artists there, I've never been tattooed by but follow them on insta and have seen them work/met them...also are amazing artists who are super professional and nice people. You would expect artists this good to be arrogant and rude (like some others in the city whom I won't mention XD) but they really aren't. They even have a super fun tattoo flash gumball machine now so I gotta go in to get one! I'm really confused, is this place actually an active business? On the website they say they are open 7 days a week and that they take walkins everyday from 12-5. Yet whenever I try to go, it's closed. There's no sign that says their hours or that they are doing renovations, they are just closed. Too bad. I wanted to give them my money. This is the best tattoo shop. I got a rose by Chanse who in my opinion, does the best roses I've come across. He hand draws them so it's custom for you and fits you perfectly. Amazing Work by all of the artists there  Great vibes and peeps. Read Less

Such a rad tattoo studio. Max did my tattoo, and he's a super kind, cool person, and he's really helpful and nonjudgmental. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone wanting a calm, pleasant experience. Awesome shop! Got a piece from Karrie last week after considering for a long time. She was very responsive in editing my design (even though I got something pretty small) and was just a total superstar during the actual tattooing process. Black Bird Electric Tattoo Date:July 2 2016 Time: 10:00 am - 12:30am Artist: Garrett Price Image: naked lady with a snake wrapped around her. Placement: upper left thigh. I live in Leduc Alberta and drove all the way to Calgary to get a tattoo done by Garrett! To start from the beginning I was looking for a new place to go and get tattoos when I stumbled upon their shop online. Looking at their website and the Instagram page of Garrett I found a drawing that he had posted. No one had claimed the drawing so I figured that I would send him a message on Instagram asking if it was still available. With me living 2.5 hours away from the shop he made it super convent for me to hold the drawing via E transfer! He was very professional and answered all my questions that I had. (Time span of over a month and a half, as I had paid for the tattoo and found a job again so I didn't have a whole lot of time off to have a tattoo heal) so once I found time off from work to drive down to Calgary I messaged him to book a time via Instagram, again with him being super polite and answering all my questions and making sure I was comfrtable with the date and time of booking. (And with very short notice he was able to get me in, as I didn't know I had the days off till pretty much the day before) Finding the shop was super easy! And was super close to crown surplus (army surplus store) The shop was super clean and steiral ! You could tell as all the pictures and memorabilia on the wall did not look to have dust on the top of them! And had a smell of being very clean. (the shop looked very new on the inside) I was greater with a warm hello from Garrett upon entering. And we got started with the tattoo process. He was super prepared and had the tattoo Stencle printed with the lady facing both directions. We talked about placement and color. Then I let him do his tattoo thing. And let me tell you the tattoo turned out amazing. Exactly how I imagined that it would! Pricing for the tattoo I thought was a reasonable, for a great tattoo! As great tattoos don't come cheap. Even with tip it cost just under 600 bucks. For a decent sized tattoo. (Even got to keep the original drawing) Warning: CASH ONLY no visa (understandable with how much it costs to run a visa machine with fees) Overall experience I have to say that I am 110% satisified with my tattoo! And the service that was provided. It was super professional environment. The shop had lots of cool things to look at on the wall, so if you forget your headphones you won't be bored ^_^ Will be going back to Garrett for a future tattoo, once I decide what it's going to be. I am a little late writing this review as I had my work done in February.  I wanted a tattoo on my foot and ultimately decided on the art work from my wedding invitation.  I stopped in and Max was able to take me as a walk in.  He recommended the positioning that was most flattering to the art work and my foot and he did a great job.  The blacks are deep, the red is bright and I love it.  The shop is really clean and they are very professional.  I also loved the skate stuff as I was a bit of a skate punk in my youth.  I would definitely talk to them if I ever get brave enough to do a sleeve. I had an excellent experience with Karrie and her team at Blackbird Electric!The entire experience was terrific -- from the engaging consultation to the actual tattooing day!I love the piece Karrie designed and I appreciate her expertise as an artist. As well, she was flexible when I requested a tweak on the initial dialogue re: the composition.  Karrie also took the time to explain her answers and reasoning when I ask questions (for example - using black ink vs. brown ink).The shop is very clean and comfortable -- also, the artwork collection in the shop was amazing to observe while I got tattooed for 2 1/2 hours...I anticipate getting another piece done by Karrie because her style and attention to detail are fabulous!
