Despite the mixed reviews online, I had a pleasant experience at Perfect Image in Banff. A very sterile environment with a professional feel. Ollie, the artist who did my piece, drew up a beautiful design and was very friendly throughout the entire process. The piece turned out great and I’ve been bragging about how cool it looks since. I paid about $300 for the tattoo which took about 2 1/2 hours and was in colour. For Banff, where everything is a bit expensive, I was happy with the price. Read Less

I booked a consultation to have someone look at a piece that a different artist already started. They got me in right away. The minute I walked into the shop I felt so welcome! (Most shops these days make you feel like you interrupted their personal work party). Jay, my artist, was there to greet me along with another man whom I didn't get his name. He got right down to business and took a look at what I was needing help with. After talking for a bit about some ideas how he could help, he encouraged me to come back in an hour, as he could fit me in for a 2 hour session to get started. I was so relieved! From start to finish, he was an absolute gem. So professional and made me feel like I mattered. We had great conversation during my time on the table and he even let me friend stay with me and interacted with her just as much. As someone who has a fair amount of tattoos..I've seen my share of ignorant shops..not the case here at all! So long as I'm in or around canmore, I will be staying with Jay and the crew at Perfect Image. His work is crisp, clean and exactly what we talked about. I had two piercings done by Ragnar and both went fantastically well. I went in worried I wouldn't be able to have my industrial done but he assured me it would be fine. DONT REQUEST OLLIE!! Me and my girlfriend both received tattoos from here. My artist was named ollie, and he was the most heavy handed of any artists I've ever been tattooed by. Not only was he digging deep into Me, he was also eager to do that tattoo, and get onto his next client. DO NOT GO HERE! Shocker all the reviews are crap. Did a walk in and got a botched tattoo. My friend and I went in to get matching heart tattoos. I questioned the drawing and the guy from Germany did not like that. I wanted both sides to be symmetrical. Apparently he doesn't like being questioned. The whole experience went downhill from there. He was a complete jerk, tried to tell me I didn't get his sense of humour because I am Canadian. Shockingly rude as we are in Canada. He did the tattoo and of course it was not symmetrical. He could care less. The manager also didn't care. Said the French chick could fix it but she could not understand or see that the sides of the heart were not the same. She was rebandaging my tattoo and as I was trying not to cry she said she wished there were cameras so I could see how I was acting. Then the manager said that it was funny how we thought everyone was being rude and that we were the problem. I left disgusted and insulted and with a horrible tattoo. It is the size of a dime I can't believe the guy couldn't handle it. Got a free tattoo after care kit that included a lollipop and a travel size cleansing wash as my consolation for the horrible treatment and botched tattoo. They said I can come back to get it fixed. I'm not sure where the negative ratings are coming from. I've been tattooed multiple times and this is one of the most professional, yet easy-going shops I've ever been too. I've emailed shops in the Banff/Canmore area before and they rarely bother to reply to your email, but Perfect Image replied within 24 hours and were able to accommodate me on short-notice. They were honest about the original piece I wanted and explained why it wouldn't work, which I appreciate. The shop ...was extremely clean and everyone was really welcoming there. I ended up getting a Monroe from Lou too, who was amazing--barely even felt it and he completely turned my opinion around on piercers (bad, bad past experience). JP did my tat and he was hilarious and super accommodating. Just an overall amazing shop from reception to piercer to tattooist. Power to the FRENCHIES, cause damn do they know their shit! Not only did I not get the tattoo I wanted, I didn't get a tattoo at all because the only artist that was available during walk ins "didn't feel like" doing the tattoo I wanted. This seems to be a consistent complaint since this particular tattoo artist is completely full of himself and thinks he is gods gift to tattooing. The tattoo I wanted was the date of my adoption and I'm guessing because it didn't seem like an elaborate, meaningful tattoo to him, he just refused to do it ON MY BIRTHDAY and moved on to the next person after I had waited from noon to 5:00pm to be called upon. The artist who did my tattoo originally refused to do what I wanted because he wanted to do his own lettering. After I insisted that I just wanted the font I had chosen for my tattoo he decided to hand draw the word on my arm. He completely massacred the entire tattoo & it looks like shit. I wanted a souvenir from my trip & ended up with a permanent reminder to trust my gut instinct & never let an entitled, self-righteous asshole do my tattoos. I do not recommend this place AT ALL. They think they can do whatever they want because they're in a hot tourist spot & know that people will overlook their shitty customer service & overall quality of service & that is just embarrassing. If I could give no star I would. Tried to get a walk in tattoo but the gatekeeper receptionist was more concerned about preening herself and her hair than actually getting me in to see an artist. Told methat there was one person ahead of me and that she would just call when someone was available. 3 hours later, no call so I went back in and there were 4 people in the shop "ahead" of me. I was then told it would be about an hour. Said I would wait. She then said well, that's just an estimate. Didn't feel welcome. Won't be back. Google states their hours for Saturday are 10AM-9PM so I called their Banff location at 10:15AM to confirm their location and they never answered. We managed to find them and went in to schedule an appointment. Totally get that I was a walk in and the artist I requested was booked until 6PM. The guy at the counter asked I write my name down, a description as a frame of reference of what I wanted, a contact number and asked me to come back at 6PM. Sounds like I have an appointment, right? Turns out I didn't. I wasted 7 hours of a good vacation day in a tourist attraction from hell (waited from 11AM-6PM) only to be told that the list was only for if the artist had any time after their last appointment and could squeeze me in. If I would have been advised I wasn't being scheduled for the appointment itself, I would've understood. No harm, no foul. The fact I didn't get the tatt isn't as frustrating as the fact that I could've been somewhere else hiking or on a helicopter tour instead of surrounded by countless loud people. 7 long ass hours is a seriously heavy price to pay for a misunderstanding that wasn't even my fault. Kudos to the artist who tried to remedy the situation by asking me to come back another day. Their scheduling system needs to be much more organized and clearer. Read Less

My friends and I came in here on Monday afternoon to get pierced, and the guy at the counter asked how long we planned to be in town. We let him know we were staying till Thursday and he let us know piercings are discounted to $30 on Wednesdays, jewelry included. What a FREAKING deal!The staff was incredibly friendly and the fact that they told us about the deal showed showed their great character; I feel like most people would try to conceal that kind of information to pocket some extra money.I can't recall my piercer's name, but he was friendly and hilarious. He has red hair, gauges, a beard, tattoos, and a large picture of his black dog's face on the wall - hope that helps. I'm describing him because I highly recommend him! His tip jar was a picture of Britney Spears, during her bald era, with the quote "Tip Me Baby One More Time." Love it! He also seemed knowledgable about piercings and was able to tell me how I can try to heal two previous piercings of mine that are being fairly stubborn.I'm very pleased with the customer service I received and the piercing. My only regret is that I didn't get another. You really can't beat that price, and they did a great job! I would recommend this place to anyone.
