I've been tattooed at Chapel Tattoo many times and have amazing tattoos from Andrew, Jane and Jaclyn, though everyone who works here is an experienced world class tattooer, dedicated and passionate about their craft. There are a lot of shops in Melbourne these days but Chapel tattoo has been around over 20 years and is something really special, whether you are getting your first tattoo or deciding to commit to something huge they are capable of the task! Oh and to those people complaining about the price of tattoos... a tattoo is a lifetime mark! Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good! The prices at Chapel are totally fair and reasonable, but if you do opt for the cheapest dude in town, they also have laser removal now too, so you can sort out removal or cover up options for any regrettable desicions you may have made.Read Less

Was booked in for a tattoo and had flu so called to cancel the appointment giving 24 hours notice. The receptionist Kelly was completely unreasonable and said that they forfeit the deposit which was paid because it wasn't 48 hours. I said to her that I can provide a certificate to prove my sickness and she suggested that still doesn't matter and they wouldn't give my deposit back. As I tried to argue my point she suggested that they dont need customers like me who would cry poor for $100. I cannot believe that I am treated this way and would strongly suggest to every  potential customer going to Chapel Tatoo to beware of their attitude and surely you dont want to be treated like this when you are paying $3 per minute to sit with the tattoo artist. The guys at Victims of Ink seem to be much better and qualified so I am going to them. Read Less

Expect to pay a minimum of $200 here, even if you're nice and not a whinger and you don't twitch and your work barely takes half an hour. Most of the team here have an hourly rate of around $200 and even if you're filling a blank spot in their afternoon that'd probably not be filled otherwise, don't expect them to cut you some slack. APART from that, my experience at Chapel Tattoo was awesome. The lovely lady working the front desk is a shining sweet beacon of light and hope. My artist was polite, acquiescent and drew some beautifully straight lines. He also gave some excellent advice on getting another slightly imperfect piece fixed (after I solicited said advice, not unprompted, so props for not being obnoxious).He didn't judge me for the nerdy piece I wanted--at least not to my face.
