I've been getting tattooed by Adrian at TM for the past 7 years. At least once a week I'm told by strangers that they love my tattoos. Ive had friends who have been tattooed by him and also love their tattoos. He is at his best when you give him a rough idea and let him do his magic. Mr All one listened to my expectations, my needs and he advised me. They explain me all about the rules of hygiene, make me feel comfortabl and we have exchanged to complete the final design. For a first timer I was made so welcome as soon as I walked in the door by the lovely gal on reception. She grabbed one of the artists Sean to come and chat and he explained the copying of my business logo to best suit the look and area on my arm. Made me feel comfortable and talked me through the procedure professionally, have to say that I give him 10/10 for the design and tattoo and then some for listen to my gibberish and singing to myself to get past the sensation felt... looking forward to more in the future. Not a great job. Had simple Roman numeral script on my wrist & he blew out the lines by pushing too deep on some letters, and others are super fine so it's all uneven. Spent $100 on a tattoo that will cost me about $1000 to remove. Read Less

Reputable and fine tattoo establishment, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a clean, friendly and professional shop. Not being from Melbourne or Australia, I wanted to make sure that I went to a legitimate place. After doing some heavy research, I decided on Tattoo Magic as the place to get my tattoo and safe to say, I'm happy that I did! The whole process of booking a session was straightforward, the person answering emails and phone was really nice and helpful. I sent the design over email, scheduled an appointment, paid the deposit and came in to get the work done. Sean, who was my tattooist, was professional and friendly. He walked me through what would work based on the art I sent, asked what I wanted, walked me through my options and gave some helpful suggestions for positioning and tweaks to the design. Before we started, I had mentioned that I forgot that the shop was cash only, but Sean told me not to stress about it and that I could get some cash after we were done. Really cool. One of the best tattoo places in Melbourne. I've gotten two tattoos done here, and the staff are always amazing, knowledgeable and professional. Whether you go in with a design or have something designed for you, Tattoo Magic is the place to go. Went in there and got put with Caleb Walmsley. I spoke with him, gave him some pictures, paid a $100 deposit and set a date with him in a months time to get the tattoo. On the morning I was due to go in there and get it done he called me and asked "whats going on, I can't start on the design till you pay me a $100 deposit". I told him I had given him the $100 deposit when I came in and set the date, after waiting a minute or so on the phone he came back and said "that's right you did give it to me that day, give me a few days to drawer something up and I'll give you a call and let you know when to come in". After a couple of weeks went by without getting a call I decided to call him, he then told me he wanted me to go to his mate in Moorabbin to get it done and told me to come in and get my $100 deposit. I went in and told the girl at the desk my name and that I was there to speak to Caleb, she went to the back and then reappeared with my $100 and told me Caleb was busy so I just took my money and left as I had no intention of going to his mate in Moorabbin. I'm sure the other artists at Tattoo Magic are some of the best going on its good reputation but after a horrible experience with Caleb Walmsley I would strongly suggest staying away from him if you choose Tattoo Magic. A very good tattooist friend of mine told me recently that he believes Tattoo Magic to not only be one of the best tattoo shops in Melbourne, but probably the best in the country. Certainly, Tattoo Magic is one of two elite shops (Chapel Tattoo the other) that Melbourne has on offer.They pride themselves on having an expert tattooist in each specialist area of tattoo art. Whether you're lookin for traditional Japanese or old school American or portrait or whatever, they will have a staff tattooist that can work to your needs. They do mostly custom work, so don't expect to walk in and pick something off the wall. Wait times can be long and they are not cheap, but that's the way it goes with quality.My personal experiences have been with Danny Young. His work centres around old style American designs but he's branching out into all manner of crazy shit now. They are friendly folk and the shop is central, clean and relaxed. I got a tatt done here a couple of years ago now but I still wanted to give big ups to Salem, the visiting American artist who inked me. It was on the inside of my arm and he paid a lot of attention to getting the lettering right and making sure the whole piece would look good and lined up when I held my arm up and out and twisted it around. I really appreciated the time he took, especially considering I just took the lettering in so he didn't design the piece. Organising the appointment was a bit of a hassle and they changed it on me at the last minute and then questioned whether I'd paid my deposit (which I had, of course, because you can't get an appointment until you pay the $50). So I'd say the front desk staff could be a bit more organised, but if Salem was around I'd highly recommend him to anyone. Read Less
