General Info
Tatt Datt is a Melbourne-based tattoo studio in Fitzroy. Our style influences range from Maori ta moko, neo-Polynesian, Japanese-Oriental to traditional western, grey wash, realism and West-coast script styles. We are: Clyde is of Maori descent, from Hokianga, iwi Te Rarawa, hapu te-uri-o-tai. He started out in Auckland, learning the traditional Maori carving (whakairo) in 1994. From there, his developing artistic interest led him to incorporate his carving skills into tattooing. (ta moko artist), Paki Harris (whakairo master) and Cliff Whiting (contemporary Maori artist) in high esteem.

I got my first tattoo yesterday from Clyde and i'm so happy with the outcome. I must say I was stressed but he took his time and was really soft. I definetely recommend he is great!

Clyde is a master of his art along with his #1 assistant Jaz. After many months of searching for the right person, I am extremely happy with my 3/4 sleeve. Clyde listened to my requests and executed them with perfection. Can't recommend him enough. If you want a great experience and tattoo from someone that knows the Maori culture, Clyde is your man. Super clean studio and the coffee was good too.

Went in for my first ever tattoo and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a while. Everybody was chill and calm. Went into my tattoo session wanting something tribal and native to my country but original (cause people with tattoos on my country have similar designs) and Clyde gave me exactly that. I'm in love. Clyde was very invested into the designing of the tattoo and always asked me what I wanted and did his best to incorporate it within the design. Very sanitary also. Every staff member in the store was also happy to assist in anything and asked if Clyde needed help. So this place is highly recommended from me!

Had a great experience, wanted a tribal arm band went in with a idea and Clyde nailed it. He’s super skilled and easy to work with, the shop is chill and they have a range of artists on hand that can do all sorts of styles. It’s also good for walk ins if your in town and feeling spontaneous. Will be referring friends check them out.
