Been going here for years Marshal and the team are very professional and very clean not to mention work is second to none without the crazy price tag that comes with tattoos. Got a little tattoo on my wrist this weekend at Third Eye Tattoo (it was very impromptu and I only picked the tattoo parlour as it was close to where i was) I was so pleasantly surprised. Easily the best tattoo shop in Melbourne! Their website could do with a bit of an update as it doesn't include all the artists that now work there, but you can check out the Instagram page to see more recent pieces done by everyone. The shop itself is extremely clean and the artists/front of house crew are all beyond friendly, helpful and super accommodating to any style of tattoo you're after. For my first tattoo, I want a bold traditional rose, so I sent in reference photos and said I wanted it a certain way, and By the time I got to my appointment, Nick had designed my stencil and was ready to go. My experience with Third Eye has been very disappointing. I walked in there expecting to be matched with the artist best suited to do the tattoo I wanted but instead I was thrown to the first available person, a guy named Bugsy, who completely fucked up my tattoo. Not only did he fail to follow specific instructions about colours and the thickness of the lines but his work looks sloppy, with no symmetry and in addition bits of the tattoo have fallen off after healing. When I went back to discuss my dissatisfaction with the tattoo neither the management or the supposed artist took any responsibility and dismissed my concerns with a simple "the work is more than satisfactory, it couldn't be done any better". When I asked to see the owner of Third Eye they refused to organise a meeting. I have sought a second opinion about the tattoo and was told that not only it is very poorly executed and cannot be fixed unless removed but it is also very badly scarred. Needless to say I am completely devastated and feel absolutely terrible for trusting the people at Third Eye to tattoo me. Read Less

Though I'm yet to be tattooed by Third Eye folk, I have it on good authority that they are the tits. There are a handful of studios in Melbourne that slot into the upper echelon of work, apparently Third Eye is in the ball park of Tattoo Magic and Chapel Tattoo.They encourage walk ins at Third Eye and this, these days, is a rarity. Their rates are highish and they do charge for drawing of custom work, but just go in and check out the quality and you'll see why it's a bit pricey. They have great gender balance here so there's none of that macho attitude you'll get at the biker shops. Plus, girls tend to have a bit of a lighter touch with the needle, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The shop is immaculate and the folk are super friendly. It's the kind of place you really want if you're a newbie to the world of tatt's. It's the kind of place you'd take your grandma. Read Less
