WoW!!! What a master Shane Gallagher is, he rules! My boyfriend and I flew all the way from Amsterdam for a tattoo off Shanes hand and it was worth every $! Sure, we could've gotten a Polynesian tattoo here but all the good tattoo artists in the dutch know Shane work and said "no one is as good as the master himself". Shane is extremly professional, talkes thru your wishes, gives his pro advice and then starts with the design. When you're happy with the draft, he starts... and when he's working he's totally focused, does not talk a lot, like he's working on a spiritual master piece and that it is.. As part of my job I am working in front of people and wanted a particular design that replicated this. I thought I made myself clear in the consultation with Shane Gallagher / Shane tattooer about the particular design I wanted. He agreed upon this but the tattoo looked completely different then what I had showed him. To be honest he didn't respect my body as the quality of tattoo I received was Very poor, rushed and I had to deal with his bad attitude. I was regrettably tattooed by SHANE GALLAGHER COLEY. It was such a terrible experience. I only wanted a small meaningful piece done on my upper back. He made it much larger and more distorted then I was wanting. As a woman I found him to be very rough with me and aggressive with his demeanour. Shane made me feel very uncomfortable. I certainly would advise other women considering being tattooed by Shane not to but to seek out other female friendly tattoo artists. Definitely one to avoid! Read Less

From my initial call with Scott on the front desk to the moment I walked out their door, was a great experience. My 5th tattoo and 1st one here. Unlike some other tattoo studios, these guys treat you well. No "we're cooler than you" attitude. My previous experience elsewhere  made me feel as though they were doing me a favour by tattooing me, and I was interrupting their lunch and dinner discussions. Westside are a happy bunch and you can see they love what they do. Yes, they are a little more pricey than other studios, but their work is fine, creative and accurate. As a cleanskin, I picked Westside out because "everyone" said it was the best. I guess any tattoo place is only as good as the artists who are employed at the time, and each one is going to judge you based on what you want, where you want it, and how much input they get to have. Dude, is Westside overrated. The experience itself was fine, and Stooks was a nice guy, but since then I've gotten three more pieces at three other places and with each new experience I get a little more disappointed with my first experience (I'm still happy with the piece itself, but that's because the only input the artist really had was regarding the colour). I was totally ripped off as far as pricing goes - I guess you pay for the Westside name. Plus if you want to book in for a Saturday appointment, no matter how small - get ready to wait 3-6 months. I don't recall any effort being made on their part to see if we wanted to consider a weekday instead, or whether that'd even be a shorter wait. In any case, I haven't been back, and since speaking to a few other people with opinions I tend to value, I'll probably stick with that plan. Live and learn. Read Less

Westside Tattoo has been around since 1998, and one of the best known tattoo shop in Brisbane. They have just recently moved to bigger and better premises on Hardgrave Road, and the shop is really amazing! The walls are covered with gorgeous pieces of artwork by the resident artists.All of the artists are often heavily booked, so be sure to phone up to book your consultation. Perhaps you could chance it and walk in during a weekday, but you might be waiting a while.They don't have credit card or EFTPOS facilities here, it's just cash. But there is an ATM down at the corner shop if you forgot to get money out beforehand.I've been to see Lily for 3 tattoos and a touch up and I really love her work.
