Its not a nice feeling showing people your tattoo and them gong 'oo eek' or screwing thier face up at your jacked tattoo. Terrible line work, missed bits. Upset that I have to wear this til I am able to have it covered. A star however for ease to deal with . Read Less

I highly recommend going here for piercings! I had Jess and she was amazing. Really friendly and very professional. I was staying in Sydney for a few days and my partner and I had decided to get a couple of small tattoos. First impression wasn't great, the ladies at the front desk weren't very helpful and were a bit standoffish. My artist (Brett) was a lovely man and did a good job with my work, although one will need some touch ups as it's not as close to the picture I showed and would have liked. My partner had a worse experience. As it was his first tattoo they weren't helpful at all and were quite rude and seemed to look down on us because of this. Not sure of his artists name as he didn't introduce himself and was the opposite of friendly. Didn't care about the artwork and was very rushed, resulting in a not so great tattoo (incredibly basic design). He also had a couple questions which were met with quite rude, uncaring responses from the artist and the owner was even worse. Definitely do not recommend for walk-ins. Wish we had gone elsewhere (despite how friendly Brett was). Especially would not recommend for first timers. Read Less

Yeah I got my first tattoo with these guys at 18. Tony told me "wow your a big girl, (I was 80 k and 178 cm and no fat on me .) But as a girl it hurt .I got a wolf tattoo and he also added detail to my back tattoo that I didn't ask for. I went back stupidly ,( I know I didn't know any better) because I was a youngster and this time got his son to add some feathers to the previous work and he also; without asking, went over the 3d effect look his father did ,which made the tattoo look flat and down right stupid. I booked an appointment with Jess, the piercer here. She was fantastic. She spoke to me politely and frankly about the piercings I wanted and what I should expect. She made me feel at ease right away and I barely felt a thing, I wasn't even sure she'd finished up. I'm really happy with the result. She took the time to speak to me afterwards and gave me some tips on how to keep the piercing from getting infected and so far so good, no problems at all. The studio is easy to get to, right opposite central station and the pricing was more than fair. I really can't say enough to recommend them. Jessica done a fantastic job repiercing my navel last week after it had closed up many years ago. I was worried about getting it repierced but she was so kind and very professional. I had my first tattoo experience there with Chuck who was great. Super friendly and did a great job. However my second experience was not so good. It was done by a different artist, an older guy who clearly did not care about my tattoo which resulted a very uneven, and badly done tattoo that needs retouching already. Read Less

Got a walk in tattoo from Tony the other day. Had an incredible experience. The artists are very welcoming and all keen for a chat. Tony suggested I move the placement of where I wanted it, and I am more than happy with where it is now. The colour in the print out was a little weird so he asked if I wanted some other colour put there and it really brought it to life! The colours are so vibrant and the work is beautiful! Do not go here!We walked in on to a cold, quite and unwelcoming tattoo studio.  There were no other people there, there was no tattoo being worked on and there was no music.Red Flag Number One.A very rude, boring and sterile tattoo shop to say the least.I've been to many tattoo shops/parlors/studios before and The Illustrated Man is by far the worst.There were two guys there.  One rather large man who just sat there. When I asked if they a particular design the big man just said no.  He didn't offer to ask me if I had any ideas in mind or a particular design I was after.He just pointed to the wall and said there's some in there somewhere.Okay, I guess I'll start digging around in hopes to find something?The Illustrated Man has totally inconsistent quotes as well.  One quote we were told $250.  When we went there to get the tattoo done we were told $150.Red Flag Number two!The other guy was a small short balding man, who has blondish/red/orangish hair.  He is also not a very good artist.  I'm not a very good artist, but the sketch I brought him was way better than what he came up with.This is the man who was going to do the tattoo!He looked at the design that we wanted done disappeared for a minute and came back with his sketch that looked NOTHING like the one we wanted.  After kindly asking for a quick change he disappeared again and came back and it looked exactly the same.It was a total joke.Not only did it look NOTHING like our sketch, NOTHING Changed when he came back to show us.Also, whenever I've gone to get tattoos before, the person doing the tattoo would happily sketch something up in front of me.  I don't know why he had to go hide when he was working on something.After a couple more questions about the design he fluttered his hands in the air and said "GO GET IT SOMEWHERE ELSE THEN!"Really?  This is how you treat your customers?It was almost as if he was instigating a fight with us.Absolute garbage.This guy did not want to do this tattoo and made it very clear.  I wouldn't want and don't recommend anybody with that kind of attitude to put ink on me that is going to be there for the rest of my life.Some of the rudest and definitely the worst customer service I've experience out of the many Tattoo Studios I've been to.As we were leaving another solid guy walked in and was staring us down like he was going to hit us.If you are looking to get a tattoo done, look somewhere else.  Look for a tattoo studio that cares and looks after their customers.The Illustrated Man DOES NOT.
